Most of them dont want or even use existing services. Are you stupid enough to suggest that social services create more homelessness or makes people want to stay homeless? What youre suggesting will lead to violent crime and theft. I know you haven't thought anything through, but you deserve to know how stupid that idea is. Problems dont just disappear because you pretend they don't exist.

He spent $17.5 MM to move some homeless people across town for the Super Bowl and Taylor Swift concert. This is efficiency under the Landry administration.
I guess he could have left them wandering around harassing tourists… that would have been a great idea.
Even better, he could have sent them all to Siberia!

But federal support for those programs took a hit in June when HUD announced a plan to shift an estimated $1.2 billion nationwide away from permanent housing programs and into temporary programs that emphasize treatment in its latest annual funding competition.
This wasn't quoted in the OP but I had read this article this morning and was very confused by this move. Taking money away from permanent supportive housing and shifting it to putting fires out via addiction/mental health emergency services would just result in the people who were housed due to permanent supportive housing becoming homeless again, right?
Mental health/addiction emergency treatment isn't long-term housing. It could be rehab or a stay in a psych ward, but those are short-term solutions to homelessness.
I have to be missing something. Can someone explain or even suggest how moving money from permanent housing into drug adduction or mental health services would decrease homelessness?

A commie leftist crying about government inefficiency, lol. This is rich considering how much you defend the inefficiency of New Orleans’ government.
We know, we know… that’s (d)ifferent

They do diminish when you stop funding their existence.
Feed a man for a day and you’ll be feeding him forever, buy a man a bus ticket and he ain’t your problem anymore.

Get the BUMS away from the Avenue especially the intersections that are now flooded with beggars in wheelchairs. BUMS are dangerously just sitting in the middle of traffic.
Get em out of here.
Get em out of here.

Permanently housing the addicted has no end in sight.
Treating the addicted, however, has a chance of success.

Yeah. Its not that simple, or we wouldn't have homeless problems in every major city on earth.

Wanna guess what the homeless/addict rate is in Dubai?

When leftist politicians allow open air drug markets to exist, prevent the justice system from holding criminals accountable, and allow “camping” on sidewalks and public spaces, don’t be surprised when those policies lead to homelessness in major cities.
Your local leftist politicians are to blame more than anyone else

Look here alter. If they resort to violence and crime as you say (not to mention they are ALREADY committing both) then we can lock them up.
Either way they’re off the streets.

Wow... almost like it really IS that simple!

I could waste 50 million dollars and have more to show for it.
How much is that per bum?

I walk by multiple homeless people every day on my walk into work in Nola. I can guarantee you these people haven't and won't use any service you offer them. They're content on sleeping in the street and doing drugs every night

Sharia law cures homelessness? Brilliant, Sally! You solved homelessness! Islam is the answer, y'all!

You are just showing you don't know what permanent supportive housing is, which is fine. But you could at least read the article and google some of the unfamiliar terms and programs mentioned in it before entering a discussion to condescend the people who are actually affected by the things mentioned in the article.

I mean... you've literally never provided for yourself in your entire life. And you think you're in a position to judge and look down people who don't have your mother or husband to shelter them? Girl. Have some self-awareness.

Sadly,I believe you. Forget Red/Blue,etc what happened in someone's life where they begin to find it normal to sleep on the street? Everybody, rich/poor, man/woman, black/white has had a moment or two where they are down and out and feeling hopless--albiet briefly. Just don't understand how someone winds up in the streets.
