The Strait of Hormuz is irrelevant. Most of the oil is moving out through different ports via pipelines. Iran played the only card they had, and now its defunct. Markets do not tolerate chokepoints.

Interesting claim.

If what you say is true why would Trump be trying to make a deal?

The reality is they can’t fix this with pipelines yet or they would’ve and it will take a year plus to make that happen.

Maybe he’s stringing them along for his/our own unknown purposes…..why couldn’t that be as possible as anything else? Other than the obvious general disdain for Trump, which isn’t an answer to anything.

And/or he’s ensuring the world that he went beyond what’s reasonable insofar as “trying it the peaceful way” is concerned.

Remember when anyone who pointed out the entire Iran thing was a bad idea and Trump called them Panicans?

Remember when anyone who pointed out we were increasing spending with the BBB was called a Panican because the "other bills were coming after" and then you never heard about any such bills ever again?

Still left to play out: The increase in the police state and the merging of Israel and our intelligence/military.

It's a good thing we got the people who were opposed to these things out of office though. They were the obvious problem.

SUCK THAT SWAMP DICK and tell us how you are winning.

And put several bases across the strait on that point. Mark any areas deploying drones or boats, and bomb immediately
we’d run out of bombs quickly

Ask yourself why he did it? Doesn’t make any sense, except he needed too. Look at Brics, petro dollar, and a reason to debase the money. Whenever we have a debt crisis we manufacture some reason. Might want to look at past economic crisis and how war lined up with them

He destroyed the petro dollar so looks like it backfired

It would seem like Iran would want the mid-terms to go in Trump’s favor so he can continue with his buffoonery without guardrails. Iran finally has a U.S. President with poor leadership skills they can take advantage of.

That's an overstatement.

I'd guess there is a minority on both sides of the aisle who will complain about military intervention no matter who enacts it.

Then there's a solid majority who will support it if their team enacts it and oppose it if the other team does it.

Case in point, when Biden made the statement in 2022 that he would use force to prevent Iran from getting nukes, the overwhelming majority of this board melted down and claimed he was trying to start WWIII for profit. Just for saying it, not for actually doing it.

Then the overwhelming majority of the same people cheered when Trump did it, and they also ignore that Trump has actively used the office of the POTUS to put (lots) of money in his own pocket during his 2nd term.

The left would do exactly the same thing. Because both sides are now domiated by populism.

Nah. Immigration and aggressively recruiting children into LGBTQ meat grinders. Trump is not an isolationist and he didn't act like one his first term. It's hard for me to believe that anybody with an IQ over 80 really didn't understand that the "No New Wars" campaign pitch was just telling (some) people what they wanted to hear. Anybody who believed that very obvious bit of nonsense got whet they deserved.

What is your understanding of the likely global effects (including to the US) of a nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel?

More like they know the American people, for the most part, are impatient and short-term focus. They don’t see beyond the edge of their shoes, if they can even see their toes.

Historically, Iran is highly reactionary, and that seems to be the case now

Sorta of this. Oil is about where it was before all this. It’s is about refinery capacity and rerouting flow of refined products. Overtime, price at pump will drop.

Who is going to blink first? Iran is almost out of cards. USA is almost out of time as the US public can’t see beyond the daily news.

Our reply should be to mine the straight.
We would know where our shot is.
Focus air power on overland routes and let them starve.

Humm, All three major US markets have hit all time highs recently, S&P just yesterday. If it's a stock market war, I know I'm winning my little portion of it.

Trump just needs to say no and blockade Iran’s oil. Take out a few key infrastructure each month until the financial pressure cracks them. And we will just have to eat the higher oil prices until that happens.

You may not be old enough to have witnessed first hand some of their lunacy.
