I don’t think I have? Admittedly I’m posting unusual topics to mix things up.
Would it be better if i post thread #10,256 that says ‘Liberals are icky’?

Exquisitely stated.

I lived there for 10 years, does that count?
Sure. I was just using Cali as an example because it is a normal whipping boy.

Domestically, many of you criticize California (and often with good reason). But how many of you criticizing that place have actually been there to see it yourself? You might be right, you might be wrong about your impressions.
"Maybe the piles of human shite won't be so bad in person."
Nah, I'm good.

I loved in San Diego for three years.
I enjoyed it.
Problem is the state income tax is crazy.

Harry Boutte, If you had any sense of fairness, you would also post pictures of your liberal havens that include: boarded up stores, items locked behind plexiglass, homeless people defecating in the streets outside of restaurants, tents lining the road, and burned out towns.
Every state has poor/rundown areas and every state has nice areas. Every state also has some beautiful geography, but some are overall better than others geographically.

Exactly. America has some beautiful places that should visited if possible.
However, traveling abroad shows how young the US is and that we really don't know it all.
Other countries do some things alot better than US

have been to California multiple times. Overall it sucks. People suck. Beaches suck.
The only thing that doesn’t suck? The weather.
It’s probably one of the most beautiful states in terms of natural scenery but that’s about where it ends.

I worked in France for three years. The problem with most European countries (and the US quite frankly) is that the news is totally biased and people do not get a view from both sides. It skews their perspective and they don’t know what they don’t know.
There is a lot to love about living in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, or Germany. But they have a lot of poor people also that most tourists don’t see. Overall standard of living is somewhat lower than the US - sort of. Lots of tension between races and nationalities/ethnicities. And the US is certainly not the most racist country. Quite the opposite really.

People in the South referring to other places as "shittholes" are the acme of hypocrisy.
If they had any sense of perspective, they would keep silent when it came to shittholes - liberal or otherwise.

I agree. That's actually MY point.
So why are you calling me out instead of the people calling places in our great country shittholes? After all, you can find nice places and shitty places everywhere. Are liberal shittholes any worse than conservative shittholes?

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Japan, so that doesn’t fit your parameters. I’ve been to Atlanta, so that’s moot. I’m rather ambivalent toward the place. It was a lot more fun when the Braves were still at Turner field.

California is gross. You can what about this or that all you want.
Posted on 10/15/25 at 5:24 pm to weagle1999
I only travel outside the US because it’s so crappy and expensive here
Posted on 10/15/25 at 5:33 pm to weagle1999
People rag on California but it’s the best state by far.
The beauty is unmatched and the cities are full of life(yes some bad). I just ignore the stupidity and I’m good

I have been to California and no one there could point to Baton Rouge on a map.
So maybe it’s they that need to see the rest of the country.

Sure thing junior.... but some of us don't have that ability. Probably most on this board do not but won't admit it.
Personally, Im happy and content in my little corner of small town America.
Personally, I don't need your suggested "perspective " to see things as they are.
But hey, you do you baw!

I'm happy to have a traveled a lot before too much insanity started. I've found a way to enjoy every place I've been, from Oslo, Norway to Burlington, IA. The encounters and interactions were always interesting at worst.
I was always glad to come home, though.

California’s natural beauty and incredible weather, landscapes, forests, beaches etc. are even more reason to be infuriated at the idiots running and destroying the state
