TD's anchor is more credible than Brian Williams, so there's that.

I get the best political, weather, sports, and truck nutz news from Tiger Droppings.

You used to be able to assume that reporters had thoroughly researched a story and were providing you with reliable unbiased information.
This is no longer the case. You must read every article with skepticism, and then do their job for them and make sure that it's factually accurate.

TD has the most up to date news on the internet. I'll see a thread on here about something hours before the regular media has picked it up.

Incorrect. 90% of stories on here you won't find on Drudge.

The sight of the Baton Rouge Advocate front page usually makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

I do not watch MSM or regularly visit news sites for the very reason you cited. But when I drop onto the Poliboard I sample a couple of different topics and start doing some research on them on my own. So yeah, I actually agree with you.
Needed to be said again

Yeah, but if you want to know what is going on in the state/baton rouge you have to read it. In BR I would also add the daily report, but don’t know if that translates to Connecticut.
Of course, I personally care more about state and local issues. But really more people should focus on those.

It's just as reliable and accurate but a lot more fun.

I don't know much, but I do know that members of my family, especially, want to know what's new.
Especially football.
They know that over the years I've known things(from TD)much earlier than they hear it from msm,or whatever they rely on.

I can remember the days when I was a kid and my dad would read the paper in the morning and would address my mom and me as I got older and say "listen to this story".
TD PT is that place for me and I believe for a lot of people on here. It's the place were we can discuss and vet news stories (and other things) with a bigger and more diverse audience similar to how it was done in families pre internet.

That's how I use this site also. It should always be trust but verify. It's the best way to learn and fortify your position. God help me if there are footnotes and references provided. I can get lost for hours in them.

They have pretty much gone online, and are littered with advertisements. When you turn them off, the page doesn't load properly
As others have said, this site is a pretty good source to find information, but like nay other source/site you still need to do your own research.

Your main source of news is a political echo chamber on a college football website. And you say you don't need someone to read opinions to you... hmmm.

Next time, explain that you use online aggregators and then you read multiple online sources to come to the truth.
Explain that you very often find that the cable news is very obviously intentionally wrong...and that anyone who relies on cable news just doesn't want objective truth.

Why is this bad? I do the same thing as OP. Get news from here then follow up with things I want to know more about by reading more articles/studies/etc around the web

I'm always looking for good online sources of information.
What are some you would recommend?

I just recently discovered the Poli Board here after years on tRant, and so far it's been excellent. This place and AR15.com are one-stop shopping for news that I find interesting.
