The populist right is 180 degrees out of phase with the populist left.

The populist right believes in strictly enforced borders with massively reduce legal immigration if not a 5-10 moratorium on all immigration. The populist right also believes in a massive reduction in the federal government with power being returned to the state level.

The populist left doesn't agree with either of those things ^^^. Most people on the populist left are fine with a bloated and controlling federal government.

Yep. If Iran was a problem, then Europe should've dealt with it.

The solution always seems to be the United States fighting the battles.

FFS, just look at too many posters in this board.

I hope this gives normies the spine to shout down the “Trump is God” types with just as much fervor as we do the “Trump is Hitler” types.

Will be so glad when he’s gone and people stop framing EVERY DAMN THING through a Trump lens, good or bad.

100% agree.

I personally don't know one conservative/America First voter who agreed with Trump attacking Iran, as a matter of fact most conservatives I know were left scratching their heads in disbelief.

People want
- affordable homes and living
- jobs
- no endless wars

The party that people hope/trust/put their faith in that reflects best the above ticket has won for decades. Free enterprise and liberty accomplishes that which the GOP espouses and never acts on

I just don’t see how any of it matters once the demographics flip to majority non-white, which is going to happen.

We needed MAGA to actually stop the tide that is the 3rd world invading Western civilization, and it didnt happen. It probably didn’t stand a chance, really.

It’s basically humanity’s version of osmosis at this point. Modernity has removed barriers that keep people moving from low prosperity to high prosperity, so the third world will continue to migrate to the first world until there is just one flattened world. Unless Western nations grow a spine. But as we are starting to see, voting won’t solve it.

Will it continue to be more and more extreme versions of each?

Yeah, pretty much what I've been expecting for a number of years. Populist right and populist left, each run by 'strongmen' types, alternating for a while. Eventually becoming a Spanish Civil War type scenario. Letting in all the foreign invaders ripped the cultural fabric to shreds, and any middle ground will be vaporous and moot.

When the voters are not DEMANDING explanations, all you need is to dodge answers, and throw out promises. Too many in society are overwhelmed with buzzwords, slogans, and even LIES, that when the smoke clears that’s all that’s left in their brains.

Just look back to Biden hiding in his basement, and letting the media shills propagandize the election. Then, toss in some illegal voting, and viola, your POTUS.

Populism will continue to dominate because it (a) provides free rein to promise whatever people want to hear without any solutions grounded in reality and (b) can be much more easily propagandized through the media the masses now consume.

No it's because the people with muh solutions haven't done jack shite to improve the material conditions of the country in 30 years during which time every single aspect of life in this country has gotten progressively shittier and shittier for everyone but a narrow slice of the population (Boomers).

If only both sides are held to accountability. Short memories plus lies will allow promises that are not kept.

I remember one of the architects of Obamacare, in a speech to a friendly group, that they were counting on the dumb voters to buy the bait. Obama promised the “you can keep your doctor”, and you will realize a $2500/year reduction in cost. POOF, now what?

The thing is, Trump will tell you going to war with Iran to prevent them getting nukes is America First. Even though it might come with temporary pain, it’s a small sacrifice to make to keep America safe.
