If they said that, then they are stupid. This whole line of argument is bogus.
Diesel prices have nothing to do with Iran.
Refinery closures coupled with Ukraine blowing up most of Russia's refining capacity are what is driving the diesel prices.

If i were Iran, id absolutely hold out for an administration change and another plane full of money to show up. The american public is incredibly fickle, and they know this.

That is the story although everyone knows China is the #2 exporter of diesel and approx 25% of their stock is being interupted by the dustup in Iran while only 20% is from Russia.
After China, you have the expected exporters of Russia, Saudi, UAE, etc.
We also have usage issues from both the US and Russian militaries.
I would say the disturbance in Russia is about equal to disturbances in the ME.
