Porn will lead the way and smooth out the transition from people to AI. Once they have it fixed Hollywood will say goodbye to actors.
We aren't there yet. But it is closer than I thought it would be in my lifetime.

Whoever creates the AI program. The door has been opened wide to developers everywhere!

The people in Hollywood are fine with AI ending the careers of people in other fields but expect a carveout for their jobs?
How about no.
How about no.

What a joke. Hollywood can't run fast enough to replace $20 million salaries with AI once it is good enough to consistently emote correctly.
The fear it because anyone can go into production if they have a good idea and some talent.

Seriously, how is this any different from cartoons and CGI?

quote:AI is being used to analyze bridges for needed repairs using AI managed drones and AI enhanced cameras using AI managed proximity sensors. It's being used in underground plumbing inspections, land density inspections in order to engineer support columns and foundations. There are even robots now that use AI to install shingles on homes. Robots use AI to mow the lawn, but I don't think we're there yet for it to trim shrubs and edge the sidewalks and driveway or the high grass up against landscaping borders. I recall reading complaints by photographers when AI started being used in camera flash products. They were mad that now anybody can make perfect use of flash photography, something they had to learn over 20+years of trial and error. They were mad that people could achieve professional looking results with no experience required.
I don't believe AI will ever be able to weld a pipe, drill an O&G well, wire a building, install HVAC, lay asphalt, etc. Can AI assist in these projects? Sure, but they are not taking over. Even in Hollywood AI is not fully taking over. You still have real people directing and managing these AI characters.

What does Tilly Norwood think?

I suspect, effectively, we pretty much already value cash over humanity in our culture. This is just another example. I don't love Hollywood, but AI actors are only the tip of the iceberg... which will end in most of us living in dilapidated, crime-ridden government housing.

As little as I care for leftist actors and their comical political leanings, I'm looking at this as a possible way to fight AI's complete takeover of jobs in creative industries. This isn't just about headline actors, it's also about the camera operators, video editors, set and makeup artists, catering companies, trucking companies, etc. The people who work within and support the entertainment industry. If Hollywood is able to finance and fight AI takeover in the courts for this single issue, then it may also set a wider precedent for other worthy human endeavors being replaced by a series of prompts.

Remember "learn to code"?
I remember...
They only care because it affects their jobs.
Learn to plumb stupid mother frickers.

I get both sides of the argument. AI is "programmed" by copywrited material, even if they don't claim it.
On the flip side, Someone is going to start making movies using AI that actually appeal to customers more than Hollywood.
It will be interesting to see where all this AI stuff pans out. The amount of power to run all these datacenters is exponential, and there is already some push back from various groups.

People who play dress-up for a living are put off by computers creating dress-ups and doing it better?

What a world. So now the pols are going to save millionaires from AI.
What about normal people?
What about normal people?

The AI will still be directed by the leftist Hollywood elites.

I recently booked a trip using AI. I did not ever arrive because the island was artificial. It simply did not exist.
That was a long boat ride, I tell ya!!

Hollywood vs. AI....
It reminds of that very rare wrestling match I used to see as a kid of two bad guys fighting it out. I wouldn't mind seeing AI disrupting the M.O. of all the virtue-signaling woke-joke phonies in Hollywood. That's a given.
My concern is that AI, especially in the wrong hands, could end up doing a number on us, too. Just about anything can be used for good or evil, depending on who's behind the curtain pulling the levers.

I guess we all just need to take a trip down the yellow brick road.
