There goes all those "gun for sale" ads

quote:

One source familiar with the meetings said that Barr pitched the legislation by warning that a lack of action could electrify the Democratic base prior to the 2020 election. Barr also did not consider the background check legislation a gun control measure, instead painting it as a tool to assist law enforcement in cracking down on gun smugglers, the source explained.

This worries me a little

Can anyone show me an example of an actual commercial sale without a background check? I just don't know what they are talking about.

As a law abiding citizen, I dont mind this measure.

FFL fees typically range 20-30 bucks. Now, if they start restricting FFL's and making it hard to get one, then I'll have an issue.

ETA: I dont like the chain of custody type stuff though. Who cares who owned my gun before me. (If I am reading that correctly)

We're gonna have to give them something. That being the case, this seems reasonable to me.

Having said that, this will do absolutely dick to impact mass shooting one iota.

So they'll come back for more. Which is the entire issue. They won't ever stop.

Will this proposed new Law governing private "sales", include 'sales' wherein the buyer trades crack, heroin or pot for said 'purchase'?

This is why our Government and Society is becoming dysfunctional. "Strain at a gnat and swallow a camel".

Weren't they all suppose to have done a 'comprehensive gun buying background check' 30 years ago? The dems want us to be Londinistan and ban all guns, that is obvious. The R's want to do something so the D's don't use it politically as the D's have nothing else in policy---- but a huge train wreck; and immigration that even Eric Holder thinks is nuts

It is like the women's equal pay. Didn't Obama sign the Lilly Ledbetter act for women's equal pay? If so why did Ivanka get women's equal pay through?

The uniparty seems to scream the same issues over and over and they don't really do anything. I hope Trump gets a super majority to get things done already. Get rid of the GOPe saying no to healthcare and immigration.

In exchange for what? I was told there would be a "compromise".

Either “volunteer” to do this, or suffer the penalty.

They way I am reading this is if a private individual advertises a gun for sale in the courier journal it has now become a commercial sale and must be run through proper channels. But I can sit on the side of the road and sell guns to any Joe Blow that comes by and I don't have to do dick.

What good does this do anyone?

Until Trump acts upon this, none of this means anything. He always meets with people to try and get as much information as possible, and then he makes his decision. So far his decisions have been the right ones, so I don't have much worry here
