By any standard you would like to measure too? He has done more for this country than anyone on this board. He was this boards hero just a few yrs ago. But now since he disagrees with a lot of Trumps policies he is now a traitor, war criminal, and POS. You Pubs are a sad bunch

Leaving his military career aside, he's been a fraud as a politician. You don't run a re-election campaign on the premise of repealing Obamacare and then when you have the chance to do it you vote against it. He's as swamp as they come. Have some intellectual honesty.

McCain isn't alone, and I'm not going to attack him personally. However, as a politician he's as big a fraud as 90% of them are and doesn't deserve to be lauded for it.

ETA: Really it's no different than a pro wrestling gimmick. He crafted this character of "the Maverick" and it's total bullshite.

I think most who voted for McCain in 2008 did so with one hand holding their nose. The alternative was too frightening to imagine sitting in the white house.

McCain was no one's hero in 2008. He simply wasn't an unaccomplished media created simpleton like his opponent.

I didn't think anybody could be worse than Tom Daschle, but then we got Harry Reid. Dingy Harry is a despicable human being.

By what standard?

McCain like Charlie Manson and MS-13 members just has values, morals, and character no sane person in a civilized society wishes anyone had. We usually lock away these types so civilized people can live somewhat harmoniously headed toward goals the opposite of these types.

I believe you're confusing the word "hero" and the phrase "a better option than Obama".

They are not of the same meaning.

Jesus Christ man. Donald Trump has you defending the biggest warmonger in U.S. Senate history. There isn't a body count of American soldiers and Middle Eastern civilians too high to quench McCain's bloodthirst. It's sad that, for the American political and media establishment, having morals and character is equivalent to supporting American empire and all the death and destruction that accompanies it. How can you claim to be a liberal humanitarian and praise a man whose psychopathic foreign policy has objectively done more damage than Trump's mean tweets or alleged demagoguery?

Damn this is like the best shite I’ve read on here

You are absolutely correct, but at the time it would have given control of the Senate to the Dems.
That’s a political traitor.

He negotiated with POS Tom Daschle to become an “independent”. Would have given control of the Senate to the Dems.
A true American hero.

He’s not going to answer that. He only responds with emotion and shitposts.

The fact that Daschle hasn’t been in office since 2005 should be embarrassing for him considering his response.

Presumably you simply don't know who Daschle was, or understand the reference?

I guess Jim Jeffords beat McCain to the punch.

Let’s be real, there is nothing independent about John McCain. He’s always desperately wanted to be a democrat, but knew he could never get elected as one in Az. That’s why he toyed with the idea of being an independent with the leader of the Dems at the time.

Why? He’s a soulless warmonger who’s played a large part in sending thousands upon thousands upon thousands of young men to horrible, agonizing deaths, and you can bet your arse he would’ve been leading the charge against Russia to start WWIII if Hillary had been elected. I hope it hurts, I hope it takes a long time, and I hope he burns in hell. frick him

Puff Daschle lost in like 2002 or 2004 so this proves how long McCain has been a dirty traitor

The likely timeframe for the flip would have been in 2001-2002, when the Republicans held a 50 seat majority in the Senate.

Because of an oddity (Gore still VP while new Senate sworn in, meaning Dem control for about 17 days), an agreement was made that didn’t lock in majority / minority leadership for that Congress.

It was exploited later that term when Jim Jeffords of Vermont flipped from Republican to Independent and gave Daschle the Majority Leader position.

If he lived in Calif instead of Arizona he would have been a Dem 30 years ago.
