I blame the idiots for getting the degree but also the university for having classes like this.

This is what Universities were created for; the idea that they were to prepare someone for a job was a later innovation.

So she's either purposely misrepresenting her degree or she actually thinks she as an Associates Degree in OT (either of which points toward your point about her probably not being a quality candidate).

An OTA can make $50k-$60k easily. You can’t fix stupid, though.

She must be fat or ugly because otherwise her MRS degree would have some poor sap busting his arse to pay it for her.

I have two kids. One on his own and doing well, no college debt. The other, half way through college and no debt so far, thanks to some saving through the years. Preached to them since they were young to go into something in demand (medical field).

You’re an idiot and your Mom is obviously one too. Slap some sense into and maybe she’ll return the favor. And no, we aren’t interested in financing your idiocy

I've never understood having to go to college to get a degree for something that lands you a menial hourly wage type job.

You see it all the time.

Occupational Therapist. Medical Assistant. Etc.

These are "careers" sure but they aren't high powered careers they are just decent paying jobs.

A "degree" used to be an achievement. Something that was a testament to your hard work and dedication and intelligence. Now it' a racket.

She means occupational therapy assistant. An OT degree would absolutely be at minimum a BS. Most OT programs have moved to an MS.

I don't know of any OT programs that are not at least a 2 year Masters program. Many are now 3 year (spring-summer-fall) doctorate programs, at least they are in Texas. Very, very competitive to be accepted similar to PT programs....graduates generally start in the 70-75K range.

OT-Assistant certifications are 2 year programs and don't require a degree beforehand, so it's possible the OP got a degree and then went to one of these programs. Salaries average in the low-mid 40s.

But I will never forget back in the beginning of 2018, my professors told me that by the time my classmates and I graduated, we would likely struggle to get jobs because of changes in the profession. Well, they were right.

They gave you the f-king answers to the test and you still got it wrong. You don’t deserve to cry.

Imagine those with gender studies degrees. 100K in debt just so you can stock shelves ( with purple hair) at Walmart.

Despite his stupidity, he is still a victim of predatory lending schemes. 'Just don't sign' people say, ignoring that there are billions of dollars poured into fooling and then grifting kids in higher education.

If anything, it makes it even more apalling.

The few OT's I know went to school for 5-6 years. She's not an OT. She'd be the assistant to the OT's assistant, which is why she can't find a job.

I call bullshite on the pay. My daughter just graduated with an associates degree from Bossier Parish Community College as a Occupational Therapist Assistant one year ago. It took her about 6 months to find a job. She woke for clinic that specializes in different types of therapy (occupational, speech, behavioral etc) for children. She works 4 days a week and makes $38000. She could have found a job sooner and made more if she went to work at a nursing home but she really wanted to work with children.
