I'm not sure. It's absolutely possible that they did and I think that needs to be investigated.

Regardless, they are the reason it spread from their country and deserve repurcussions for that.

The analysis of public genome sequence data from SARS-CoV-2 and related viruses found no evidence that the virus was made in a laboratory or otherwise engineered.

"By comparing the available genome sequence data for known coronavirus strains, we can firmly determine that SARS-CoV-2 originated through natural processes," said Kristian Andersen, PhD, an associate professor of immunology and microbiology at Scripps Research and corresponding author on the paper."

There is no doubt, 2007 Chinese research paper describes the process.

LINK
quote:

First, the SL-CoV S was unable to use any of the three ACE2 molecules as its receptor. Second, the SARS-CoV S failed to enter cells expressing the bat ACE2.

Its not easy for a civet virus to enter human cells.
quote:

Our results indicated that the SL-CoV S protein is unable to use ACE2 proteins of different species for cell entry and that SARS-CoV S protein also failed to bind the ACE2 molecule of the horseshoe bat, Rhinolophus pearsonii. However, when the RBD of SL-CoV S was replaced with that from the SARS-CoV S, the hybrid S protein was able to use the huACE2 for cell entry, implying that the SL-CoV S proteins are structurally and functionally very similar to the SARS-CoV S.

HOWEVER
quote:

It is also conceivable that these viruses may become infectious to humans if they undergo N-terminal sequence variation

And now the kill shot
quote:

it is not unreasonable to conclude that bats are a natural mixing vessel for the creation of novel CoVs and that it is only a matter of time before some of them cross species barriers into terrestrial mammal and human populations.

translation: Its almost impossible for the Cov virus in bats to infect humans. Attempts to attach to the ACE2 receptor eventually succeeded. Current research says that's exactly the path this virus took to the respiratory system. So it appears that over time this method has been perfected.

So as to the question of intentional release, its really unfortunate timing for the CCP (Hong Kong, Trump). My guess is you had a true believer that went postal, and splashed vials on co-workers who thought they were in the clear for about a week. Then things went south rather quickly

Science dude cites 4 studies...says it's man made

Dr Oz just sayin' shite...(to prevent further conflict with China)

Or this dude with a bunch of science...

Yeah, man made...released to stop HK protests, exploited by the DS and many others

yes, of that there is no doubt

the only question is was it an accidental release from the bioweapons lab by people or was it truly test research on bugs that got lose and bats ate the contaminated bugs

I highly doubt it, IF it was engineered they more likely than not stole it from someone else and containment was somehow breached.

I think Trump is going along with the overhyping of corona to destroy communist China.

the original virus 100% was engineered
the question is did they just frick up or did they intentionally release it

No. Most likely explanation is it naturally evolved and was here prior to January. Odds of two viral evolutions breaking through in same year is very low. I think they may have capitalized with their media to incite panic. The lab nearby isolated the new virus.

If anything they downplayed the threat
