Notre Dame made their own bed. They played, at best, a three game schedule and went 1-2. They played 4 teams ranked below #100. Awarding Notre Dame is awarding a team for looking good against the equivalent of a G5 schedule.

How many games did TAMU play?
I just read the rankings, not a few components of it. Looks like there is more stuff on the right about offense and defense.

OU looking like they don’t belong.

Weird, that graphic has Notre Dame at #3. That from a different year?

I'm a Tulane fan, so I'm hoping for an upset, but I would be shocked.

North Texas is the better team and would have liked to see them get a shot rather than a repeat of Tulane vs ole miss.

If you want to be in the playoffs, win against good teams. I don't give a frick ho close you lost by, you frigging lost, shut up and eine next time

Louisville has a pretty great resume using wins
Texas Tech has a bought team. If you think that the school, your school, on the jersey is more than branding, like Etihad is for soccer teams, then you’re fooling yourself. Texas Tech spent serious cash and more than almost everyone.

Not a bad talking point. But what happened to a loss is a loss and a win is a win? That's what makes CFB so fun. Now it seems we are trying to say my 2 close losses are better than your 1 blowout loss. F that.

Sure, and there’s a ranking for that.

It depends on what question you’re trying to answer. If the question you’re trying to answer is top 12 teams that would have the highest probability of winning (Vegas) then recruiting plays a huge role. Teams taking losses on unlucky/bad bounces wouldnt be punished. LSU, ND, Michigan and Texas might be in.

If the question is based on the season’s results then who should be in… well that’s a different question.

Notre Dame has one of the highest predicted chance of winning, but they barely lost two games. Vegas likes them, but do they deserve to be in???

I’m not their fan, I don’t care, and recognize them being a b for opting out of the BYU bowl.

I wish Vandy got in because they deserve it on their record and aren’t winning the recruiting war that plays so much into the Vegas odds.

Recruiting is just an outcome of willingness to spend money of effectively pro athletes. We’ve gotten so far away from Student Athletes.

Not a ND fan. They lost first two games by combined 4 points. Numerous computer models, ones for BCS, SP+, show them being #6 in the rankings.
The rule isn’t highest ranked G5. It’s the top 5 ranked conference winners, where normally the 5th would be the best G5 winner. ACC sucked so bad that another G5 had a better rank than ACC winner. The rule makes no mention of G5.
Sorry, was away cleaning up the debris caused by the flooding of ND and Texas tears.

I missed where Loyola won the natty in basketball, probably was a great story, can’t wait to watch documentary.

I also failed to see where in basketball or baseball the weaker seeds win all the time and don’t get blown out? Should I put my money on 14, 15 or 16 seeds this March?

Best teams in college football??? We’re in the territory of teams with 3 losses, or 25% of their games. Why not let the one team that lost 8% of their games (JMU 12-1) get a shot and not have to lose hypothetical games played based on recruit rankings.

If an ACC or SEC team wants to go to the playoff so bad they can join a G5. I’m sure the G5 will take them.
Same people cheering for Loyola during March Madness hates on Tulane and JMU.

Can’t wait to see them argue for a 16-18 SEC team to be included in March madness over some 26-4 Cinderella from a small conference.
Alabama should join the sunbelt, get g5 bid every year. 4D chess
Fans contribute to NIL collectives, students contribute via fees. Can players and team opt out if the fans and students have paid to watch them?

I didn’t come up with OSU and IU being #1 and #2, they are.

7/10, 9/10 would be
Vandy and ND swapping out Miami and Alabama

I advocate for two teams. This year it’s IU vs Ohio State
Why doesn’t Texas join the sunbelt and then take the G5 spot?
Well, his metric is relatively famous and tracks Vegas odds well. It says Alabama is #12. Yours is unknown so I can’t comment. Hope you didn’t lose too much today by betting on them based on your metric.
Here’s how chatGPT, and Bill C, would describe it:

“It’s designed to be a predictive measure — meaning it tries to estimate how good a team actually is and how it would perform moving forward, not just reward past wins.”

It thinks Alabama would get beat by 11 teams on a neutral field.

Let Vandy in as the last. Screw Miami and Alabama
