My concern about the SAVE Act is that it’s too late for the upcoming mid-terms. It would be fine for future elections.
There are too many people…Democrats and Republicans alike…that aren’t prepared and don’t have the proper documentation to readily prove their citizenship. You may be surprised how many people do not have their certified marriage licenses, birth certificates, and divorce papers. There will also be legal citizens that show up to vote on Election Day without knowing about the SAVE Act and did not go through the necessary steps to prove their citizenship. You will be surprised how many people don’t follow the news. Look how long the deadline to get a REAL ID was extended before it became a hard requirement. Yet there are still people that do not know about REAL ID! I personally have encountered this while talking with others.
The agencies required to provide the required documentation for proof of citizenship will be swamped with too many requests such that there is no way all requests will be filled in such a short time period. Many legal citizens will not be able to exercise their right to vote.
Of course, that’s the underlying reason why Trump wants the SAVE Act to pass so badly for the mid-terms. He feels like the mid-terms will go in his favor with less voters. But it may backfire on him since there could be many of his supporters that can’t vote since they don’t have the time, don’t have the documentation, or be news savvy to prove their citizenship. Or even don’t have the funds to do so since it costs money to apply for the proper documentation to prove citizenship.
Concentrate on passing the SAVE Act for future elections but not the upcoming mid-terms. And don’t attach other non-related voting provisions to the act. Keep it simple.

we know it because every time any effort is made to make voting secure, they block it. every. single. time.
purge voter rolls of dead people? blocked.
purge voter rolls of illegals and foreign nationals? blocked.
purge voter rolls of people who've moved? blocked.
share voter rolls with the federal government? blocked.
verify citizenship status for legislative apportionment? blocked.
end post-election vote gathering and counting? blocked.
signature verification on mail in ballots? blocked.

requiring folks to get a passport to vote is rediculous
So you're a moron then?

For most Americans, qualifying requires one of the following: a valid U.S. passport or passport card, a certified birth certificate paired with a photo ID, a naturalization certificate, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. If your name does not match across those documents, additional paperwork such as a marriage certificate would also be required.
This is extremely easy, and not at all a burden.

this idiot is literally arguing that you need a photo ID to get a photo ID therefore its impossible to get a photo ID. Yet somehow, 99% of American adults have one.

Can you point to the part of the bill that says they will?
Point to where they say they won't.

Thus far it is an unfunded mandate that the Feds want to foist on the states with no funding mechanism. To merely hope the funding comes or is established later is like a check is in the mail....I promise you it's coming..... right before you change your phone #

If they have not stipulated in the bill any funding mechanism to assist states in overhauling their voting systems to comply. So the Feds mandate and then say to the states...."Oh, by the way, you are paying for our whim, straight up and you had better comply."
Any state governor with any sanity would tell the Federal government to get lost.

A lot of the homeless have a bit of a problem getting organized and being in the right place at the right time.
frick off… they’re organized enough to beg for handouts, find a drug dealer, find a shelter, find and/or scrounge for food…,and they can be at the right place for handouts, holding signs at busy intersections, begging outside convenience stores..but getting a free ID, and finding a place that grants them…well that’s just a bridge to far? GFY…

I favor its passage but I think the SCOTUS might get rid of it.

Excellent point. They've moved to block even the most common sense, no-brainer attempts to clean up both the voter rolls and the voting process.
I mean, when you even resist purging the voter rolls of dead people? That alone says it all.

One of many but this is one of nonstarters, requiring folks to get a passport to vote is rediculous, folks on here need to read info on Vote.org
A standard driver's license alone does not qualify in most states. A REAL ID alone does not qualify. A military ID alone does not qualify. A tribal ID alone does not qualify. Only five states currently issue enhanced driver's licenses that meet the bill's requirements on their own.
Yep. I agree with this.
When I first heard about the bill, I was excited. As soon as I read this, I pretty much accepted that it was over with.

The current system is not credible, the public trust in it will continue to degrade and it has huge vulnerabilities that communists are exploiting.
It has to be done or else there won't be an America to save.

If we didnt issue a DL to non-citizens this wouldnt be a problem.

REAL ID is a massive scam. Just pay TSA a $45 fee and you don't need it to fly, and DHS is on record saying it isn't proof of citizenship in court documents. This really isn't a good argument for why the SAVE Act shouldn't pass.

I'm sorry but if you are over 18 and can't have one, or multiple, of these then you not getting to vote won't make me lose sleep because you are clearly not responsible.
I've seen the Carnival Cruise videos, those people have passports, so explain how it is disenfranchising to require enhanced ID to vote.

It does require everyone who changed their last name when they got married to re-register to vote, though. So it might not be you who gets denied, it might be your wife.
So?
Why do you never consider the people who have had their votes nullified by unqualified voters?
Why do the leftists in this thread pretend like we don’t know why 100% of them (in this thread) are against the save act?
