Well, we certainly can't make any progress without the input of the homeless.

1. That the agencies to whom the documents are owed in order to verify eligibility to register to vote are supposedly incapable in many—if not most—smaller locales of actually verifying the authenticity of those documents. Because of what they are requiring, it gets complicated to verify depending on what documents you provide. Many government databases are not up to date, so you might simply not be found in them
This is all BS. Documents required are exact same documents for the Real ID. Databases have finished updating for that are they not?

And not just a few. Kansas is a test case because they passed a similar state law. 12% of all applicants were unable to register to vote because of this
Instead of asking for a link, I just went a read about this.
1) this happened over 12 years ago. Quit trying to act like it was a test case for SAVE.
2) Kansas pop was 2,940,865 at time of test. Only an estimated 31,000 people were not able to register during that little run. Do the math sir. It wasn't nowhere close to 12%.
Stop obfuscating and lying. It would be better for all of us.

Nobody's against it. They've been given their marching orders and are walking lockstep.

SAVE America Act:
1) Show identification when you vote (driver's license). This is to match you to your registration.
2) Prove citizenship when registering to vote (birth certificate/passport). If you are currently registered to vote, then this part does not apply to you.

Why not just create federal ids for federal elections. The government spends more money on stupid shite. You apply for a federal id to vote. That is the id you use to vote in all federal elections.

Not every industrialized nation has a written Constitution that lays out how elections and the activities as to whom administers them like the US does. The states get to administer and set the base qualifications.
Been over this months ago. States determine when, where, how long and what method. Feds do have authority to dictate who is eligible. SAVE is part of determining who is eligible.

Daddy government wants to "SAVE" elections, then Daddy needs to pony up and pay for the enforcement and administration and to insure the compliance

The one thing I can see that I was wrong about is that it does not automatically require everyone to re-register to vote.
It does require everyone who changed their last name when they got married to re-register to vote, though. So it might not be you who gets denied, it might be your wife.

Cases are exceedingly rare.
This has been a Democrat talking point. It is just another lie.
In California the numbers are staggering because all you need to cast a vote is a driver's license. And California gives out licenses like candy.
And beyond that California has given out thousands of CDLs to people who can't even speak or read English.

I don't know the specifics of the bill, but I'd sure need something besides that link to convince me it's bad because that's a loaded article. Just putting "bipartisan" in your name doesn't mean you're approaching from a politically neutral stance.

Idgaf what the form of Id required is as long as you can prove who you are and that you’re an actual citizen. Anyone who opposes that is a bad American and despises democracy.

No one needs to read a liberal voting link. It makes it impossible for ILLEGALS to get identification to vote in our elections.
It shuts down the Democratic apparatus for generating mass mail in fraud.

First of all, I dont believe this. The vast majority of homeless in this country are homeless by choice and a huge swath of them are receiving government benefits, which require identification in most cases.
Second of all, if you do not have a permanent address, primary residence, or are otherwise perpetually transient, there is no real way to declare your appropriate voting precinct or which elections your vote should be counted in. This creates yet another vector for fraud.
Lastly, there are hundreds of millions being spend on homeless programs, with special programs for ID in most states. If SAVE is passed, a state like California will 100% have a valid state ID in the hands of every homeless person before the next election, and you know it.
Just be honest for once. You oppose ID because it allows you to cheat. You dont GAF about the tiny sliver of humans that might have a harder time voting under these new rules. Everyone can CLEARLY see the intentions here.

I think you meant to reply to me.
Well, here's Cato saying the same thing: Cato Institute
Although they added a new concern. The bill requires state and local voting rolls to be turned over to the federal government. A Democratic administration would never abuse that, surely.
I'm not going to keep posting sources until someone approves of the source, though. Just read the bill.
It either requires what I posted that it requires or it doesn't.
And again, everyone's only been arguing about number one on my list of concerns about it. Number two is that each individual state is tasked with coming up with the way to verify documents and also resolve discrepancies when they don't match, but there are no guidelines for them to do so. They make up their own guidelines (as is Constitutionally required, I guess).
Anybody who doesn't think that's going to be abused to the moon and back in blue states is a fool IMO. So the bill doesn't even really solve anything...it just pushes the problem back a level to voter registration instead of day of election voting.

The Constitution gives states the right to run their elections. The federal government's power is growing at the expense of local sovereignty.
If the D party was pushing legislation like this, this place would riot.

The American left is trying to convince you that we must have a voting system that is impossible to verify, rectify, or validate because roughly 1% of American adults don't currently have an ID.
Posted on 7/15/26 at 8:48 am to KCT
The only argument I've heard from a conservative politico (this guy has run multiple campaigns) is that blue states will ignore whatever provisions are enacted, and red states/areas will enforce them, so in the end, the only vote that gets suppressed is a likely R vote.

Considering every other industrialized nation and almost all non-industrialized nations do exactly what the SAVE Act proposes, it would seem it is actually the grown-up thing to do. Fighting against it would be the childish thing to do. Making claims like "this or that happens rarely" is baseless since we do not have the means today to actually know how often it happens. Illegals voting os minor anyway. Vote harvesting is the biggest concern. You should want to stop that. SAVE does, yet you argue against it. Childish.
“We can’t prove it’s rare, therefore let’s assume it’s common” is a curious standard. It works just as poorly in reverse.
And if ballot harvesting is your biggest concern, you’re arguing with the wrong bill. The SAVE Act is chiefly about requiring documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration, not eliminating ballot harvesting. “Other countries do it” skips a few details too. Many of those countries have national ID systems the U.S. doesn’t. If we’re going to call something “grown-up,” let’s start by arguing what the bill actually does instead of what we’d like it to do.

One of many but this is one of nonstarters, requiring folks to get a passport to vote is rediculous, folks on here need to read info on Vote.org A standard driver's license alone does not qualify in most states. A REAL ID alone does not qualify. A military ID alone does not qualify. A tribal ID alone does not qualify. Only five states currently issue enhanced driver's licenses that meet the bill's requirements on their own. For most Americans, qualifying requires one of the following: a valid U.S. passport or passport card, a certified birth certificate paired with a photo ID, a naturalization certificate, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. If your name does not match across those documents, additional paperwork such as a marriage certificate would also be required.
None of this is true. Read the bill before you spout nonsense
