One of many but this is one of nonstarters, requiring folks to get a passport to vote is rediculous, folks on here need to read info on Vote.org
A standard driver's license alone does not qualify in most states. A REAL ID alone does not qualify. A military ID alone does not qualify. A tribal ID alone does not qualify. Only five states currently issue enhanced driver's licenses that meet the bill's requirements on their own.
I Iive in Louisiana, one of the poorest if not the poorest state. We give free IDs you can use to vote. No one else has en excuse. Mind you this isn't a driver's license, so people like me that have a driver's license already do not need one of these IDs.

For the record, I'm with the approximately 80% of Americans who favor its passage. I think it would be a strong step in the right direction regarding cleaning up our election process. But for those who don't like it, tell me why.
Everybody wants secure elections. That’s not the argument.
The argument is whether this bill fixes a real problem or just builds a taller fence around an empty pasture.
Voting as a non-citizen is already illegal. Cases are exceedingly rare. So if you’re going to make it harder for some eligible citizens to register, you’d better be solving a problem big enough to justify it.
That’s called weighing costs against benefits. It’s how grown-ups evaluate policy. Not by assuming anyone who asks questions must be rooting for fraud.

This alone should disqualify you from voting.

Sorry, but vote.org is lying to you. A Real ID, military ID, or Tribal ID are more than fine. All three meet the vetting requirements. Standard DLs should already be a thing of the past.

Considering every other industrialized nation and almost all non-industrialized nations do exactly what the SAVE Act proposes, it would seem it is actually the grown-up thing to do. Fighting against it would be the childish thing to do. Making claims like "this or that happens rarely" is baseless since we do not have the means today to actually know how often it happens. Illegals voting os minor anyway. Vote harvesting is the biggest concern. You should want to stop that. SAVE does, yet you argue against it. Childish.

This is the biggest line of bullshìt in the entire thread.
California just proved the opposite and made it a felony to investigate ballot fraud.

Dude, I have no idea where my birth certificate is. I'd have to somehow request a duplicate copy of it.
Let me help you out. Go to your Clerk Of Courts office and request one. Cost $15 dollars. You will have it in a few days.

For most Americans, qualifying requires one of the following: a valid U.S. passport or passport card, a certified birth certificate paired with a photo ID, a naturalization certificate, or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. If your name does not match across those documents, additional paperwork such as a marriage certificate would also be required.

I used my DL in Texas. Now I use my DL in Louisiana. Seems like a common sense, easy way to do it.

The save act would protect against more than just illegals. The largest fraud is in mail voting, which is inherently insecure by design. Save would strengthen mail voting security.

My mom probably has it in a baby book somewhere. I haven't needed it in 3 decades and never will again in my life. I don't see the importance of keeping track of something I'll never need.
You can’t even keep up with your own birth certificate, and yet you call yourself a man.

I’m sure that a few will be inconvenienced
If that’s what you think I have said, you did not read.
12% is not a few, and being denied the ability to register to vote is not an “inconvenience.“
You realize that basically everyone has to re-register if this passes, right?
If everyone has to re-register and Kansas is any kind of indicator of how many people won’t be let back on the registration rolls, that’s not an “inconvenience,“ it’s a disaster.
You also realize, whether you get back on the rolls or not is not up to you, right? It doesn’t have anything to do with your ability to be responsible and get ID. It has to do with your election officials ability to verify the authenticity of the documents that you bring them. So one of the people who may not get re-registered to vote is you.
I’m all for making sure that the person who is voting is eligible to vote. But this is a cluster. It’s just not workable.

The notion that every idiot over the age of 18 with a pulse should get to decide this country’s future is one of the most stupid ideas to ever be formed and one of the main reasons this country is going to shite.

Not every industrialized nation has a written Constitution that lays out how elections and the activities as to whom administers them like the US does. The states get to administer and set the base qualifications.
Daddy government wants to "SAVE" elections, then Daddy needs to pony up and pay for the enforcement and administration and to insure the compliance.

1. That the agencies to whom the documents are owed in order to verify eligibility to register to vote are supposedly incapable in many—if not most—smaller locales of actually verifying the authenticity of those documents. Because of what they are requiring, it gets complicated to verify depending on what documents you provide. Many government databases are not up to date, so you might simply not be found in them
This is all BS. Documents required are exact same documents for the Real ID. Databases have finished updating for that

Homeless should not vote. They have already fricked up their lives, they shouldn’t be given a chance to frick up mine too.

Most of them chose to check out of society.
If you make that choice, then it should also include opting out of the $20 and free bus ride from Democrats to buy their vote.
If you want to vote, then get your shite together enough to get an ID.
