In his order, U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman found that conditions in Texas prisons without air conditioning violate the Eighth Amendment — which protects against cruel and unusual punishment — and that TDCJ’s current response to extreme heat is insufficient.

So what was the constitutionally of prison a in Texas (or any southern state) prior to the advent of A/C…..
And at what temp is officially OK.
Is ventilation sufficient to remove heat buildup. Does it need to be 72. What about one inmate being cold when another is hot at same temp.

Why should I pay for a rapist, murderer, child molester, to have A/C in prison???

Would be a damn shame if government contractors installed the A/C improperly and there was a massive Freon leak that killed the prisoners. A damn shame.

No big deal. All those prisoners will be gone by then anyway because of the supposed 12 years the planet had left to function due to climate change (via AOC and others).

Interesting stat (and I believe all prisons should be non A/C) but only 38 out of 104 have full AC. Figured it would be much more.
