Maybe you should try to find someone to enslave you.

I think his point is that he works and pays for his own food and clothes. He's not looking for handouts because his ancestors were treated horrifically

It read more like he doesn't like the life he created for himself so the descendants of the people who were kidnapped and treated like property should just suck it up like he's doing.

I agree. Anyone that worked on that university as a slave should be paid. Nursing Home will get it, but oh well. A friend of mine is the Attorney General. He did both undergrad and law school there. I wonder how he sees this.

worked up? i think all the reparation stuff is stupid BS. TBH the descendants should be thankful that they are descendants of the slaves who made it to America...5% of the slave trade actually made it here. Africa is a hell hole.

That's exactly what these fricking leeches should be doing, just like the rest of us. I'm not asking for shite based on my ancestors being indentured servants. They can join the rest of us and work for it.

It’s not a civil rights movement. It’s just Grifterpalooza. Always was.

My parents didn't pay me to cut the grass when I was growing up. Can someone calculate $10/cutting over 45 years plus interest? And recommend a good reparations attorney in South Louisiana?

In addition, apparently they'd have invested every single penny, and not withdrawn anything to this day.

They had to purchase the slaves, and feed/house/care for them.

If they are looking for an accurate picture of the expenses (which I know they are not) then this has to be included.

That should knock the figure down to zero.

"Enslaved" is as linguistically retarded as saying "THE Ohio State University."

Not really. The story is absurd enough without worrying about trivial linguistic preferences.

I've never owned a slave. You've never been one. I owe you nothing

Descendants of the enslaved Black people who built a university in Missouri calculated that they were owed up to $74 billion in unpaid labor.

But did they factor in room and board lol

Everyone wants to get outraged at the sale of slaves here, but none of the "activists" ask where the traders got the slaves, in the first place. All this Black History, and not a one of them has watched the first 30 minutes of Roots, apparently.

Yup. The ships picking up the slaves being sold by their chiefs wouldn't leave the shore, they knew they would be butchered.

Slave" dehumanizes the individuals who were kidnapped from their homelands to become property in this country. Referring to people who were enslaved as "enslaved people/enslaved individuals" acknowledges that they were actually human beings who treated horrifically.

Why does this bother you?

ETA: A main reason Reconstruction failed is because poor whites couldn't tolerate the idea of being equal to formerly enslaved people. Poor whites wanted to feel like they weren't the bottom of society. They wanted to feel better than black people. Looks like things haven't changed much since Reconstruction.

Maybe so, DURING RECONSTRUCTION! We are many generations removed from that time and mindset. Trying to apply that logic today is ridiculous.
Giving money to someone who wasn't affected by slavery 200 years ago does zero to change anything.
It actually harms them. Welfare proves this. People need to look forward, not backwards. Blacks need to take responsibility and fix their culture instead of blaming their problems on others.
