So, let's say they get what they are asking for...does this mean that the descendants of the slave owners can demand reparations for food, clothes and housing?

ETA: A main reason Reconstruction failed is because poor whites couldn't tolerate the idea of being equal to formerly enslaved people. Poor whites wanted to feel like they weren't the bottom of society. They wanted to feel better than black people. Looks like things haven't changed much since Reconstruction.
