I’m fine with it. There are over 600 billionaires in the US with a net worth over $3.4 trillion. Make a one time wealth tax of 50% and give it all to black people / communities. Half those billionaires are probably nitwit Democrats anyway so it will serve to educate them about caving to socialist mobs.
You are the enemy of our entire system of government and way of life if that is your position.

Reparation checks will do ZERO to fix that issue. Handing people a check today will not do anything to solve the issues that were created in the 1900's. Not one single thing.
Don't tell him what would happen if we gave everybody in poverty a house they can't afford

I think you need to prove your lineage goes back to the slaves in the US. The more slaves in your history, the bigger the payment.
If your family immigrated here from Haiti in 1955, no reparations.

Pretty sure we already had that happen back in 2008.

Racists In America – WHO??? WHAT???
Read the mission statement of any of these organizations - the NAACP, The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Asian American Bar Association, LatinoJustice PRLDEF, The Nation of Islam, ACORN, United Negro College Fund, The NAACP, La Raza, the National Urban League, National Black Law Students Association, The National Society of Black Engineers, The New Black Panther Party, National Association of Black Journalists, National Black Graduate Student Association, The National Black Nurses Association, National Organization of Blacks In Government, The National Bar Association, The Congressional Black Caucus, etc. etc. (There are many others including religious and nationalist organizations.)
Try instituting an equivalent for the above organizations wherein the term “White” is substituted for “Black” or “Hispanic” in any of the above.
Were there similar organizations for other ethnic groups, then those who support the existence of the above and other similar organizations would be shouting “RACIST”. Currently it seems as though that is only an appropriate word when used as a means of slandering whites or others not of the claimant’s preferred origin. It certainly is effective in quashing dissent against any of the above organizations and the activities of their members.

In all seriousness....this will cause another civil war. The inflationary aspect alone (setting aside any moral or other implications)...cost of housing ...cars...services...food will increase. Automation of jobs will increase to meet demand. People that are being penalized for nothing they did are going to struggle to buy commodities and when those that received reparations have gone through the funds ....which didn't last long enough demand more.

It won't end here.. they will NOT be satisfied.

quote:I wouldn’t support reparations but if it comes to pass and it is a trillion plus then I have no clue how they can pay for it. I think there’s less likely to be a civil war screwing over 600 people (most of whom have enabled this movement) than making millions of regular regular middle class non-AA’s foot the bill, so it’s really about pragmatism at that point.

NO, they are not. The Democratic Presidential ticket and Democratic candidates will receive more than 85-90% of the black vote, as usual.
Black turnout will be the lowest in 20 years. They may NOT vote for Trump but many will NOT vote for racist Biden after all the negative ads with Joe's own words are run in Sep-Oct.
Now, if we get stuck with vote by mail, black turnout might be 110%.

Treasury issues bonds. Fed monetizes bonds. Cash goes to customer.

Yeah, punish the current taxpayers for past injustices so that direct payments can be made to one group of people.
That'll help race relations.

If you think that a 50% punitive tax on the wealthiest 600 Americans for any reason is in line with our founding principles or cultural/societal/economic norms, then go right ahead.

The left is going to attempt to take those $$$ and forgive student loans and provide free college for everyone.

First, not my idea.
Second, if you think our economy is remotely consistent with "our founding principles," then you're delusional.

They want reparations fine. They can start with the 600K+ Americans who gave their life so they could be free.
See how dumb this whole argument is. The time for reparations was right after the war and that time in long gone. You can't punish innocent people for things that happened 160 years ago. It's madness.

No, it would be bitching as usual but no real action.
