You ready?

It's coming to the USA!

quote:

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus outlined a list of legislation aimed at ending racial injustices, including a reparations measure that one lawmaker said will come up for a House floor vote in the future.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee told reporters Wednesday that Democratic leaders have promised to advance a measure that would establish a commission to study reparations for slavery, Jim Crow laws, and other policies that have hurt blacks and other people of color over the decades.

“The leadership in the House and the Senate Democratic leadership are certainly supporting this legislation,” Lee, a Texas Democrat, told reporters. “And we have a commitment for a markup and a commitment for the floor.

Now.... You know they will find that trillions are owed.

But who has to pay............?

Will it be the states where Jim Crow laws were?

This is going to work SO well...

Either the makers are going to give shite to the takers, they leave, or they kick the takers out.

Door #3 is sounding appealing as of now.

Given that it is Biden as of now, I’m not even sure the promises of reparations could goose black turnout enough to help him.

Honestly, if this gets pushed through I can see people turning more Republican, especially those on the fence

For any rational policy, this is where it should be. Millions of Americans are alive who were persecuted under this regime (and tens of millions are alive who benefited from the persecution.)

All people who ever marked white on their census. Because whiteness = racist. Even if your ancestors did not own slaves, your privilege made you complicit in perpetuating systemic racism in America.

quote:

Who receives? Why?

All people of color. While black people will receive the largest payments for being direct descendants and for having been most impacted by systemic racism, all people of color have been negatively hindered by white supremacy.

Why stop at slavery? Why?

Slavery and racism in America is the worst atrocity in world history. Nothing can compare, so no other marginalized groups can command reparations. The very question stems from systemic racism and white privilege and violently oppresses the people who will be receiving reparations.

Signed,

Some White Liberal in California, Probably

If the Congress somehow passes reparations and somehow a president signs it you will see a tax revolt you cannot believe.

An absolute violation of the 5th Amendment.

And if the SCOTUS were to somehow uphold it? DC would literally be burned to the ground.

I’m in.

We pay reparations under the compromise that we at the same time end welfare.
