It’s easy, plaintiffs attorneys own Landry. He can hide behind the “it’s insurance companies to” and be wined, dined, funded in his campaign and hunt with trial lawyers. They are a huge lobby and give greatly to him. But a simple google search will reflect that Louisiana has the highest frequency of bodily injury claims in the US and one of the highest litigation rates in the country. Look it up. But he believes this has nothing to do with one of the highest incidence of attorney advertising, both crazy bill boards on our highways and in our media outlets. We struggle to keep insurance but do we struggle to keep trial lawyers. How does the bar association seem to care about billable hours by attorneys when they write one letter or have one phone call referring a case to a trial lawyer and receive and receive 10 to 20 percent of an injured litigants case. How would this be different than a driver of an ambulance or anyone else referring a case for a fee when neither of those referring the case participated in a meaningful way to the outcome of the case. Landry can try and destroy the insurance commissioner and insurance companies who we have a hard time getting to our state to provide insurance and when they do come criticize their premiums for covering the cost to pay this higher frequency of claims experienced. I voted for Landry but am disappointed in his handling the insurance problem. He is the problem. He also may have been a part of these redrawn districts issue with the Congressional race along with his new good friend Cleo Fields. Supposedly the Landry had a deal with Fields to give minorities another district for Cleo’s help in the Governors race.i hope I’m wrong on this but have it from a good source that our conservative governor sold us out on this issue. We are know in the midst of an election that will be a mess because of him.

Do you think he'll be primaried or prefer a Dem?

Anyone who thinks this, at this point, is someone who doesn't really understand Louisiana politics at all. Barring some catastrophic turn, he will coast to reelection. This is coming from someone who didn't really love him as a candidate.

We still have an Obama appointee and registered Democrat calling the shots as the head of Higher Ed. He needs to fix that and get Higher Ed. back on the right track.

He is an ignorant shiny object bitch. How pathetic his MAGA base is also. What a chump.

Would be nice if Mulkey ended her career back at Tech, I agree

He’ll be primaried and win. Doesn’t me I can’t hope for a better outcome.
I’d still vote for Landry over a Dem without question. Just think there are better people to run the state than Landry

A year ago, even on this board, people were calling him a 1-term governor.
Since then…ousted Brian Kelly when JBE wouldn’t have. Landed Lane Kiffin. Brought home Will Wade. Ended DEI. Ousted William Tate and installed CONSERVATIVE CHAMPIONS at LSU. Finally won back our districts.
I’m not knocking him but all of that is LSU related which shouldn’t be his focus. I’m interested in what he’s done for the state.

Not to hold water for Landry, but I’m not sure any conservative can win Governor without being in bed with attorneys and insurance companies.
I would love to see someone fight them, they would just be such an underdog in an election without their financial backing and having to run against someone who does.

Isn't the insurance/lawyer/ambulance chaser racket in LA worse than ever? How are those rates doing?

How about we get away from the crippling lawyer-based economy we've been living under? But we know Jeff ain't doing that.
These posts really are comical. The fact that people still believe the insurance companies will change just because the state becomes less plaintiff attorney friendly is ridiculous. There actually has been major tort reform under the Landry administration more so than under any other governor and have rates gone down for anyone not a bit. But by all means keep chasing that boogie man.

Well hello, member of Governor Landry's PR team.

They did increase the no pay no play to $100,000 from $15,000. Unfortunately the no insurance having lying sack of shite that hit the front bumper of my sons car with his left front tire due to turning left too early got 30k from my feckless insurance company. A bic lighter was brighter than my Progressive attorneys.
Edit to add the accident occurred before the law passed, unfortunately for me.

But, while the PI lawyers do play a part in the insurance crisis, I can't help but wonder why the insurance companies (which are EXTREMELY greedy) never seem to get their fair share of the blame
You've apparently never seen:
A committee meeting
A floor debate
A television ad

This is why our state is dead last in everything. All you mouth breathers care about is watching 19 year olds.
