I haven’t drank fluoride water in decades and don’t get cavities. You are an idiot.

Each person's mouth chemistry, eating habits, diet, genetics, and dental care are different.

But the causal positive effect on a population's dental health is well-established with fluoridated municipal water. It's a success story of modern industrialized society.

Not everything that is part of modern science is a conspiracy waiting to be unraveled...

Science knows more than to still fall for this crap. Start researching and make your own conclusions. The data is pretty solid these days.

Your supposed "right" to choose non-fluoridated water doesn't negate the obvious health benefits for the broader population.

It absolutely does when those people can easily get Floride by other means.

My anecdotal.

I was raised on well water. Outside of family gatherings and parties, soda wasn't available in my parents house. It wasn't in the budget. Milk or water were the only offerings. The same with snacks, only if visitors were coming over.My mother cooked basic meals. Totinos were the extent of processed food in the house. We ate out once per week after church.

I was riddled with cavities. I grew up with fluoride in toothpaste. We had fluoride treatments in elementary school. It still seemed like every dentist visit turned up another one. It wasn't until I left for college in 1987 did it end.

I've been drinking city water since then and have only had one additional cavity in the last 40 years.

My grown kids are bottle water drinkers since leaving the nest and guess what, cavities.

I'll give you my anecdotal and point out a variable in yours that you may not have considered (hint, it has to do with the underlined part in the quote.)

I grew up drinking fluoridated water, had fluoride treatments, went to the dentist regular as clockwork.

And regular as clockwork, he found cavities. I grew up in a college town and went to that college, so I kept the same dentist through college, and still kept getting cavities.

After college I spent nine years doing something in which I made very little money and had no health insurance. I couldn't afford to go to the dentist.

And after the first 2-3 years I realized one day that I had never gone that long without getting a cavity before. 2-3 more years went by. Still no cavities.

By the time I was in a financial position to be able to go to the dentist again, I refused. Because the entire time I wasn't seeing a dentist, those cavities I had had my whole life magically disappeared.

I've now been to the dentist exactly once since 1993.

I had a baby tooth that had no permanent tooth underneath it and it finally gave up the ghost and had to be pulled when I was 30.

That's it. That's the only dental issue I've had since I stopped going to the dentist in 1993. 33 years.

I was drinking fluorinated water the whole time. I was brushing with the same toothpaste the whole time. I was flossing (or not) the same way the whole time. The only thing that changed was me going or not going to the dentist.

Using my case as my data set, my conclusion is that some dentists are better at "finding" cavities than others, if you know what I mean. Sounds like the one you grew up with was as good at it as the one I grew up with.

You have a choice not to ingest the water from the municipal water system if you feel that strongly.

So, the answer is using my tax dollars to build a water system, then forcing me to buy a home filtration system because they are adding chemicals to it? Holy shite.

I had to purposely seek out a toothpaste that didn’t have fluoride in it. Purposely seek out a mouth wash that didn’t have it. They’ve added it to most everything.

This is about choice. They are medicating, right or wrong, everyone without being able to opt out unless you make a large financial investment.

Fluoride only works on the surface of your teeth; it does not get there through your gut.

I’m not some big advocate for fluoride in the water but think about what you posted for a second.

As an Alabaster resident, my concerns are the overwhelming chlorine smell and rock hardness of my tap water. As the city name indicates, we have a very mineral rich water source. I’ve heard, anecdotally, that we have a higher than average rate of kidney stones. My wife and I are the only people in our extended families to ever have one, for the record.

I should then have the choice to pay municipal taxes.

You also have the choice to go buy a cheap tube of toothpaste.

No….he is right. You don’t exactly swish water around your teeth when you drink it.

We gonna remove the iodine from table salt too?

Kosher salt, Himalayan pink salt, most sea salts, and plain canning and pickling salt that are used for cooking and food processing are non-iodized.

You can buy iodized and non-iodized table salt, same price, you choice, and it will never change. Bad comparison.

Madison, AL removed fluoride from the drinking water last year. Seems many drink bottled water now and tap water rarely reaches the mouth. Brush the teeth twice a day and after eating sugar.

Yes, and that's the best way to get it applied to teeth. Local application to the teeth directly rather than systemically in the water you drink makes more sense at a lot of levels.
