I have had a long held belief that no bill should ever have more than one topic. Let each stand on its own. Not doing it this way is how pork gets passed and why were are in debt.

Not sure who the WH's chief negotiator is but he sucks. Trump needs to get involved. These GOP fricks can't do anything without hands being held.

I don’t see a scenario where, in the end, the “big beautiful bill” doesn’t pass way or another.

There will be more tinkering to get more congressman on board

My hunch is that one of these 2 (but not both) will be yanked

1) no tax on tips
2) no tax on ss

Salt cap increases from 30 to 35k

My cousin who is a congressional aide told me last week that there are multiple gop congressman who are publically opposing the bill, but privately telling Johnson that they will vote yes on whatever the final bill is later this year.

The bill is horrible and doesn’t even do a lot of what trump wants. Hardly cuts anything from the doge findings and doesn’t address fraudulent spending and waste. I don’t think this is the bill trump intended

aren't we in agreement that the spending cuts are cosmetic at best?

shouldn't we want far deeper and meaningful cuts?

I'm wearing of passing a crappy budget just because we're the party in power. Crappy passed budgets are crappy budgets period.

The one true fiscal conservative with backbone and balls. He's right when he says they shouldn't vote for anything that increases the deficit. Cut the military, educ, Medicare. All of it. Shrink the the damn government and deficit. Don't lie and say they did when they know it's the opposite.

Republicans and Trump's admin promise big, BUT when it comes down to brass tacks:

Grok

- Critics, including Representative Chip Roy (R-Texas), have expressed concerns that many of the proposed spending cuts, particularly those affecting programs like Medicaid and energy subsidies, are scheduled to begin in **2029 or later**. Roy describes this as “swamp accounting” to delay real savings, suggesting that immediate cuts are limited or insufficient.
- Specific measures, such as Medicaid work requirements, are explicitly noted to take effect in **2029**, supporting the claim that some significant cuts

This board kills me. Either you care about spending or you don't. We are literally spending our country to death. Everything thing else is secondary. We have to stop spending.

Where is Chip Roy's alternative Budget Bill? Oh, that's right, he doesn't have one, but he's an attention whore with an ego the size of DFW. Carry on Chip, the flatulence ridden Democrat Party thanks you for doing their work for them.

This.

Already prepping for when he's in the minority in 2027. I bet he'll have all sorts of great ideas then.

Great tweet capture...

(Bears repeating)

Among several great observations by Rep. Massie (R):

Thomas Massie: "Much of the ridiculous spending DOGE found was NOT an 'oversight' by Republicans. IT. WAS. INTENTIONAL."

So...Republicans lying, deceiving the American people and hiding their greed and treacherous as usual?

Why can't the entire Congress just come clean and admit they are merely corrupt clown-actors, whoring and enriching themselves with $$$ from NGOs and the highest (lobbyist) bidders?

Preach. Look, we either believe that our fiscal situation is a great threat to our national security, our economy, and the future of our country OR we simply don't. It's that damn simple. Many of the things people bitch and moan about is THE DIRECT RESULT OF OUR GOVENMENT'S INABILITY TO SPEND WITHIN A CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE REVENUES IT TAKES IN. Inflation, the costs of cars, the cost of homes, everything can go back to this reality.

So, it's laughable to certain posters to get lathered up when Massie or Roy or someone else actually tells the truth and votes the with a modicum of principles.

Fox News said they are working out something something and this and that.

A few other unknowns with him. He is a dick, they are all dicks for that matter, but it will be worked out.

It is sadly all we got.
