re: Winter Games start Friday and little to no hype about it?

Old boomer white peolple. My kids have never asked me about the Olympics and they are in high school.
Also do these games make money? Every time I hear about them it leaves the taxpayers stuck with empty buildings and slush funds? Am I wrong?

The last Olympic Games I actually watched other than some one off curling or hockey matches was the 2002 game in Utah. It’s only gotten worse with streaming. I don’t catch cnbc anymore with my provider and peacock is fricking useless other than a football game and nba game every now and again.
I won’t be watching. Y’all enjoy if it’s your jam though. I hope the us does well.

One and done. Once you have kids what’s the point?

They are going to have to shave down some of the story in Stormlight.
Hopefully they shave off most of the WOT storyline. Flying through history with a tether over and over just barely able to grasp reality and not get lost each time got old fast.

I “trace and count” lines on things mentally. For instance, I look at a box and I mentally trace out the sides (there are 12 lines in a cube) and count as I go. I do this with all sorts of geometric shapes that I see. Looking at a suit jacket on a guy on tv and I “trace count” the lines of the suit: starting at the lapels and collar, the seams across the shoulders, down the sleeves, etc.
That sounds draining. How do you function in society freak ??
re: Diving deeper on Standard Lithium?

Seeking Alpha
Summary
Standard Lithium is rated a Strong Buy, driven by its discounted valuation and significant upside as EV-driven lithium demand accelerates.
SLI's South West Arkansas Project, with 1.5 million tonnes LCE and $1.7B NPV, targets commercial production by 2028 and industry-leading cost efficiency.
SLI maintains a healthy, low-debt balance sheet, funding growth via equity; further dilution (5-10%) is likely before revenue generation begins.
Key risks include lithium price volatility and potential market oversupply, but SLI's strategic positioning in the Smackover Formation offers substantial long-term value.
Investment Thesis
I’ve made it no secret that I like to cover the mineral industry, given the recent track record I have of articles published on the site. Rare earth minerals is one highly niched and capital-intensive market where not all will be winners. Aluminum is another high-growth marker, especially seeing as premiums have risen because of US tariff implementations. One market I find particularly interesting, perhaps above all these, is Lithium. It’s the engine that will enable further EV adoption. The most famous EV entrepreneur, Elon Musk, even stated this about the mineral: “license to print money.”
Seeing as there is still upside for lithium prices supported by the EV adoption accounting for 90% of lithium demand, I think that Standard Lithium (SLI) is a Strong Buy here. As we’ll get into in the article, it trades at a large discount to future cash flows, one of many qualities that makes it a top stock for me in 2026.

I signed up in October a two years back. Bought lending club at recommended 18, then the stock market fell and LC went to 10 or so, it finally round tripped back to 18 and is around there today. Didn't try any of there other ones but it seems to me they announce quite a few after the have made big gainz.

Would be awesome to see that get back up to the 10-20% range for a while.
Man that was the good ole days ??. Just called Schwab and they said they don’t have SLI on there lending list. Bummer Hopefully there is more interest later.

They don’t change the filters and it runs slow. Go somewhere else that maintains their pumps properly.
