How much money does the US Gov stand to lose when Texas pulls the plug?

All of the Gulf Coast States will follow suit.

Will Texas and aTm be removed from the SEC?

I’d like to think we’d (TAMU) remain a member of the SEC—not unlike Canadian professional baseball and hockey teams who are members of American leagues.

But if it came down to my family or the SEC … I’d tearfully have to choose the fam.

That said: Don’t assume you have to accept the horns.
They suck arse.
Trust me.
The SEC is better off with anyone else.

Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and other southern states are just welfare states that drag the country down.

We would abolish welfare if not for fedgov.

I have no clue, nor do I think anyone knows for certain.

As far as what’s on the books: The US fedgov siphons $103-$160 billion dollars per year from Texas.

And that’s not speaking to the billions of dollars per year Texas taxpayers are mugged for the purpose of protecting the international border the US government refuses to protect.

Lots of Texans in this thread not acting like Texans.

Volunteers from all over saved our bacon when we should have been fricked in 1800s fighting Mexico.

Don't be an arse and pay it forward. Let's take care of the people who got us here.

Deserters from Louisiana and other adventurers and opportunists from all across the south came to join in with the adventurers and opportunists from all across the south that were already here, plus a handful of Tejanos and Krauts that got run out of various parts of Germany, some before the law caught up to them.

Hello

Seems they would rather have them than all the welfare boys from all the southern states.

It would be sort of like the U.S. annexing Puerto Rico

I wish that were the case. They're not letting go of our oil and refining capacity. They'll use force again if they have to. Plus, they know what the domino effect would be. Every state in the SEC (except maybe Missouri) would want to join us and D.C. won't allow that.

The biggest issue is the US government is never, I repeat, NEVER going to allow it. So you hold a vote? So what? Even if it passes, the US government will never recognize it. They won’t be allowed to leave. You are insane if you think the Feds will pay Texas on the head and say “happy trails”.

Many Texans have close friends and/or family who are Mexican.

There isn’t a chance in hell Mexico could successfully invade Texas—nor would they try.

Don’t conflate the early 1800s with the 2020s.
Our technology is like comparing super insane aliens with prehistoric Mayans.

Regardless, Mexico and Texas are pretty tight.
