Nah. You get the representation you deserve/demand. They do these things because people (some people) like it when they do.
And some of the people in the "We got to put prayer back in schools!" club surprise me. A local public high school a few years ago went through a controversy about saying a prayer over the P.A. system before football games. I don't exactly remember the details, but it seems like a student group did it in defiance of the conventional wisdom that you aren't supposed to. Or maybe they won some decision in local court...I don't remember.
What I do remember is seeing some people on Facebook who were elated over it that I really thought had much more sense. And no amount of explaining to them that setting that precedent only solidifies the access of someone else to come pray before the games who will say a prayer that they definitely would NOT be elated to hear, none of those explanations made any difference to them.
I think lots of people in a situation like that just give in to the need to virtue signal for the community/their pastor.
But rest assured, if politicians are doing things like this it's because they are confident that it will resonate with their voters. Sometimes they are wrong abot what they think will resonate, but they are right much more often.

So? Yes, there is common content between Judaism, Christianity, and the Quran. It's called the Old Testament.
But what does that have to do with atheist students? Or students whose parents practice Wicca? Or Satanism? Or Hinduism? Buddhism? Taoism? Confucianism? Etc., etc. I think there are over 2,000 distinct religions recognized in the world.
Surely you realize that what this does (if allowed to stand) creates an airtight case for any (or all) of them to be represented in classrooms as well.
The fact that the 10 Commandments is common to at least three religions is part of that argument. "But Principle Schneider, you're already representing three different religions by having that poster up in here. It would be discriminatory to not hang this "Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law" poster up there along side them."

They are because they are a major force of hypocrisy within the republican party. People are tired of the democrats being a party of government intrusion into people’s lives. The republicans try to frame themselves as pro freedom, protecting private property rights, and personal responsibility. However, then “bible thumpers” in the party completely undermine that entire premise by legislating morality and restricting property rights to enforce said morality.
If you want people to have property rights, that shouldn’t stop when someone wants to open a bar, grow their own crops for personal consumption, sell their labor, etc. However, “Bible Thumpers” only oppose government intrusion into people’s lives when it’s in the name of environmentalism, workplace safety, or protecting LGBTQ/ persons of color. The “Bible Thumpers” love government intrusion to stop people from drinking, gambling, having sex, smoking, etc even on their own property.
It’s also an issue of priorities. Our state is in an economic death spiral, but all social conservatives care about is displaying the 10 Commandments in classrooms where children are illiterate, are completely free from consequences, and have no economic future because there are no jobs for them to work outside of minimum wage or the black market. They don’t want the state to grow economically. They only care about their view of proper conduct which they enforce on others even if they don’t follow it themselves. So, yes, “Bible Thumpers” ARE a BIG problem in Louisiana politics.

I guess any law dealing with stealing, lying, or murder can not be enforced since it is a form of goooooooooooooooberment sponsership of religion since those are also three of the Ten Commandments.
Unless we can't have our cake and eat it too.
