Matthew Dobbins-USA TODAY Sports
On a recent episode of "Always College Football," host Greg McElory gave LSU head coach Brian Kelly a 50-percent chance of winning the National Championship with the Tigers.

While the percentage might seem low, McElroy talked about how hard it is to actually win a national championship and said he thinks Kelly is a better coach than Les Miles and Ed Orgeron, who both won titles at LSU. Per Athlon Sports:
quote:

“I think Les Miles is a solid coach, I don’t think he’s elite. I think Ed Orgeron is a solid coach, I don’t think he’s elite. I think Brian Kelly is elite,” McElroy said. “That’s why I think the percentage chance that he will win a national championship at LSU is 50%. Now remember, people are going to hear that [and] they’re going to say ‘50%, I mean, that seems a little low, or perhaps seems a little high.’ Winning a national championship is outrageously difficult. Outrageously difficult.”

“So I think this place and the players that you have access to, is about as good as it gets. So I think Brian Kelly before he shuts it down at LSU, there’s a 50% chance that he wins a title.”

It’s not the same as it once was with the amount of money involved. Highest bidder will have access to the best.

Many don’t seem to think this is a compliment. It sounds complimentary to me. I’d say there aren’t too many coaches with odds that good.

50% is pretty damn complimentary. College football isn't the same anymore. 2024 season is going to be when it really gets unpredictable

lmao the previous three head coaches all won CFB National Championships while at LSU…and two of them were absolute clowns. I give CBK 98.9% odds

Orgeron proved what he truly was in 2020 and 2021.

He would already have 1 if not for a historically bad defense. 2023 will always be the “what if” year IMO. Will never forgive House

I’m sure it would be above 50 and he hasn’t coached a single game for Bama. It’s going to be a full blown melt down in sports media if he’s not successful with Bama. They just can’t even entertain the idea of it.

He’ll lose a few games and Saban will come out and defend him from bama fans every year for 2-3 years before Bama fires him.

That’s the only title game he will be in. He is getting a massively rude awakening in the SEC in the shadow of Nick saban. He can’t recruit like Georgia, Texas, LSU, Tennessee, auburn, etc.

Also, what this dipshit did during the FSU/CFP debacle last year leads me to never take anything he says seriously. That Reddit AMA he did shortly after they left FSU off and he flip flopped his opinions was hilarious.
