Behind enemy lines in the deportation fight

I mentioned here several months ago about how disappointed I was in my nephew who graduated law school and started working for an Immigration law firm in Metro Atlanta.
I love my nephew, but I didnt know how I was going to feel about his work. He represents illegals who the government is trying to deport. He has had a lot of success and has quickly been promoted to lead attorney at his firm. I was having a hard time feeling good about his success because of how much I disagree with what he is doing.
Anyway, he invited me to spend a couple of days with him as he worked and to see what he does. I am now even more conflicted. I expected his co-workers to be a bunch of purple haired wackos and they were anything but. They are smart, work extremely hard and dedicated to what they do. I really wanted to dislike them, but I honestly could not.
What's worse, I got to attend several Immigration Court hearings with him and my take away was that although I support what they are doing, the ICE attorneys and the Judges seemed inexperienced and a lot less knowledgeable about the law. My nephew won several people's release from detention on bond. (I didnt even know that was possible for illegals) and got one guy his green card. That was just in the few days I was there. Several other of his co-workers had similar success.
These guys are smart and good and they are making the President's efforts to remove the illegals a lot more difficult than I believe it should be.
I'm now left wondering what if anything should be done to stop these guys.

Wait until one of his “clients” turns on him.

We are a nation of the laws, and we should aspire to continue to be. Work within the laws. If the laws are inadequate, we should change them. The biggest change we need to make is to get rid of the birthright citizenship. That will take an amendment. We should get busy on that amendment.

Why?
The immigration system is badly broken and even people who come here the right way need help navigating it. And if there are provisions in the law allowing illegals to become legal your beef should be with Congress, not the attorneys who are working within the rules.
Only reason you should be disappointed is Atlanta. His kids might grow up to be dirty birds.

Your a moron, why should Americans who were born here, family has built this country lose their jobs so you can hire a slave. That's right cheap slave labor is what your advocating for.

This came very close to happening. Too bad the USSCJ from New Orleans voted with the majority. We were one SC vote away from ending the madness.

A few questions come to mind: Who is paying for this representation? How many of his clients will go on to commit homicides or other crimes?

Last time I looked there were over 100 organizations that provide free legal assistance to illegal aliens in the U.S. So your nephew is probably not getting paid by the illegal aliens. They don't have much money. His law firm is probably getting paid by left wing organizations.

Sounds like Trump has a hell of a lot more immigration judges to fire.

He works for a private firm who charges market rate for their services. Usually 7k to 10k depending on what they do for the client.
Most of his clients have no criminal history. Just traffic stuff.

He works for a private firm. No charity or pro bono work.

Your post is less than believable.
I don’t really follow many posters specifically, so it’s not exact, but you are somewhat familiar to me in that the tone of your posts are often similar.
“I thought one way, but boy was I enlightened by _______”
You can ignore my response as it doesn’t matter, but I think most of your posting is manufactured bllsht meant to “make people think twice” about their “right wing” opinions.
To be completely fair, even if true, your post aren’t insightful or profound anyway.
Additionally, doubt you have a son named Brody.
Having the “only traffic violations”
Hahhahahha over the top hahahhahaha
Came back to add this, because it’s making me laugh as we speak.
Carry on.

Ok, but you haven’t answered the question I asked. Who is paying said fees?

I am against all illegal immigration. It is my nephew who is working for those guys.
Although I have to say 'Your a moron" is comedy gold.

The clients and their families.

Simple question: Where is the money to pay those lawyers coming from?
Posted on 10/10/26 at 11:20 am to BrodyDad
Rough quandary.
I respect loyalty to family.
I respect loyalty to America.
Can you really love the kid while he actively and effectively works against your beliefs?
Sort that out and youll probably find peace w your position.

The law is the law and all emotions should be taken out of it. I would be ok with judges and juries not seeing the defendants, and that they disallow any testimony and facts that are only to garner an emotional decision. Cases should be tried on the facts of law, period!
