Husband/wife each fun to be around, great couple. Very successful, self-made multimillionaire business. She originally helped out at the office, but as they grew and hired workers, she was less needed and got involved in extra activities -- church, charities, school etc. Those connections eventually drew her to political community causes and the Obama Campaign.
We were visiting one night. He and I were reminiscing business "war stories." She interjected with "you didn't build that, other people built that for you," addressing both of us. I assumed she was joking and started laughing. She wasn't joking.
It was the first time we'd ever seen them argue. Bad scene.
Over time, she drifted further left. During Trump-Hillary it got bad enough, we quit visiting altogether. She ended up campaigning/marching for a green group involved in trying to shutdown her husband's field. A couple of months later they separated, then divorced.
So, yeah, as radicalized as positions have become, I could definitely see politics being a dating dealbreaker.

Why is this surprising? Many Americans like DJT and many hate him. If my spouse suddenly became maga, I’d immediately file for divorce and want full custody of our children.
