Are we close to going to war with Canada?

Look I don’t mind what we did with Iran… but I actually think Canada is a much bigger problem. Carney trying to basically set Canada up as a Chinese transshipping depot is pretty much a direct attack on our country.

In a western hemisphere we have completely reshaped to be pro USA, once Brazil’s elections are done, Canada will basically be the one major hold out.

They’re a bunch of pussies but do have energy and lumber that’s valuable

If we do, it will probably be a short fricking war.

Canada’s military probably couldn’t occupy a 7-11 at this point.

If Alberta declares independence, we can can recognize them as an independent nation. No need for war.

Alberta is where the oil is.

A war with Canadia would look like the McNeese game.

No fricks given, no running clock.

Exactly. No need to listen to all of Carney’s bullshite, just take them over and tell them to STFU.

Mark Carney and his supporters are living on the post-WWII world where Canada was rightfully seen as one of the Western brave heroes who fought the Nazis.

If they go from flirting with China to being partners with China, the Monroe/Trump Doctrine is going to start doing its work.

The leading free market economy cannot abide having a huge communist launching pad sharing an immense border to the north.

However, we would blockade their ports before any military action.

I don’t think I’d ever foresee us going to legitimate, armed forces war with them. But if there was ever a situation where things got to that level, I think they’d surrender unconditionally. And almost immediately. Like if we even had to threaten it, I think their PM would hand over control of the country entirely and then resign.

I love this line of reasoning

We start an unnecessary trade war with one of our closest allies and largest trading parners

Instead of acquiescing, they look for other options, which is their right (and what they would have never done prior to the US starting an unnecessary trade war with them)

Then we start literally saber-rattling at our bad plan being exposed

It would have been a lot cheaper and +EV to just admit the errors. Could have been solved with a phone call months ago:

We finally have the answer to the age old question. What happens when the idiots are in charge?

Who could have ever seen Canada looking to China if the US caused friction?

Canadians in Calgary have stopped talking positively about the US in a favorable light.

The tariffs are hurting them and they naturally are taking the nationalistic path.

It’s a big change.

This situation becomes even more stupid when you realize that the trade war started escalating during the height of the energy crisis that we largely created unnecessarily and we depend heavily on Canada for crude imports. You couldn't draw up a more retarded playbook if you tried.

I did not know this. So the Alberta strategy seems dead?

Admittedly, it’s a small sample size but the sample was very pro America and OK with Trump.

I would wager, based on their backgrounds, this is not an an outlier.
