So, you've literally never read the Bible.

quote:In the Old Testament, the Mosaic Law explicitly prescribed capital punishment for certain crimes, often by stoning in a communal setting. The witnesses participated first, followed by the people, and the stated purpose was sometimes deterrence so "All Israel shall hear and fear" (Deut. 13:11, 17:7, 21:21). Executed criminals could also be publicly displayed, although the body had to be removed by nightfall (Deut. 21:22-23).
They are all Old Testament “Christians” on this board, when it suits them.
The New Testament is different. Christians are never instructed to execute criminals, however the civil government is described as having "coercive authority" and Paul says the governing authority "does not bear the sword in vain" (Romans 13:4).
So, OT, everyone participates and the reason for public execution is stated. NT, the government does the deed with no comment on how visible the execution is.

And that is the problem with this mentality.
I've already stated in another of these threads I have no interest in watching this. I cited the example of Police Activity on YouTube where you can watch criminal perpetrators get shot all the time. I watched couple of those and then asked myself why I was doing it?
I guess your premise is what we don't see won't hurt us. And not everybody gets to see an execution from death row.
This case has more national interest than watching Ted Bundy or Christina Pike get executed or get close to being executed.
We can wait for the pool reporter to come out and say , he was positioned on a special wheel chair. A hood was placed over his head and a white target over his heart. A Sergeant said, take your position, ready, aim, fire. And then the pool reporter describes movement of the body and then a large blood spot on the white target on a limp body.
You can watch executions by firing squad on the inter webs if you search enough.

This morning my friend asked me if i saw the video of the guy who fell out of a rollercoaster. I haven't seen it, thank God. I told her that I hate how everything is recorded now and I wouldn't want random strangers being entertained momentarily by my death before scrolling on to the next thing. What a sad way of living we have created.

I had to watch the Live Charlie Kirk execution and it was a spectacle - unfortunately, I couldn't make the decision if that drew a line or not

Plural? Now we're talking about more than one? Are you saying that all executions must be public?
If all executions have to be public, why don't all punishments have to be public? Why doesn't "justice" demand that we put cameras in every prison in the country and make the footage available to the public?
In order for true justice in cases of the most profound sentencing (exicution), the process must be public in order to NEVER keep these things from evovling into secret assasinations. The public MUST be informed and it must be PUBLIC!
Think about the cultures that perform executions in secret. If there is ANY injustice, there's absolutely no record to ever correct.
I'm particularly thinking of one of the marxist favorite murderers Che Guevera, he was know to execute prisonrs before their trial.

Jesus was publicly executed after having been falsely convicted in a trial that violated the authorities' own rules.
He didn't say anything about that either.
I guess that means he's for false convictions and corrupt trials.
*Pro Tip: Arguments from silence pretty much always fail.
Jesus had a well established pattern of telling his disciples where to be, what to do and how to help. If they weren't supposed to watch, they would have been directed to not be there and shepherd people away.

It sends a message. No need to wring hands about it.

Again, this is why arguments from silence always lose.
There's a near infinite number of things Jesus didn't say (that we have record of, anyway) to His disciples.
For example, "Jesus had a well established pattern of telling His disciples what was right and what was wrong, yet He never said anything about pedophilia. If they weren't supposed to diddle children, he'd have told them not to." That's exactly the same argument you just made.
In fact, Jesus DID tell his disciples that they would scatter and hide when he was arrested as a fulfillment of prophecy, and we only have record of one of them witnessing the execution.
Since he knew that would happen as a fulfillment of prophecy he didn't tell them that as an "ought," but an "is," but he still told them that.

Yeah, it sends a message that will be far more useful for radical Muslim recruiters than anybody else.
It's ghoulish, and so are the people getting hard-ons about seeing it.
But more than that, it's stupid.

How do you personally feel about this?
There are dozens of Instagram pages that show people getting shot by criminals. I haven’t seen anyone all that bothered by it.
I assume a fair amount of the outcry is coming from people who watched Charlie Kirk get shot on repeat.
I don’t have a problem with it being broadcast. I will not seek it out to watch. I won’t look down automatically on anyone who does.

Like I said, if you want to argue transparency, fine. That has nothing to do with justice.
And if transparency to hold the government accountable is the argument, then we SHOULD put cameras in every prison in the country for the prisoner's protection. Right?
If the government of the United States will assassinate prisoners in secret, it's the ones who HAVEN'T been sentenced to death who are actually at risk of assasination, right? Not the ones who are going to die anyway.
Right?

I don’t think you know anything about this but you’re guessing.
Know what else is a really effective recruiting tool for Muslim jihadis? Jihadis shooting up army bases. At some point, do we care what their recruiting techniques are? I don’t.

What?
Where do you guys come up with this stuff?
My premise is that it serves no legitimate purpose to televise this execution, or any execution. Executions have live, in person witnesses specifically for the purpose of being able to confirm that everything was carried out according to law.
We don't need it broadcast to the world to ensure that it did.
Anything else is for entertainment's sake, which, as I said before, is ghoulish and trashy and dehumanizing and we have enough of that in society as it is.
And in this case—as I said upthread—this footage is going to be terrorist recruitment material within hours...maybe minutes...of airing.
So my premise is...why? For Hegseth to virtue signal being a tough guy?
What does it accomplish?

Do we live in Iran or USA?

I really agree with this. The spectacle is slightly similar to the those at the Colosseum in Rome back in the day. Just slightly similar.

You might want to familiarize yourself with what I've actually posted about this. That's not offered as a primary reason to not air the execution. It's more to debunk the idea that radical Muslims will be scared by it.
To mark it off the list of legitimate reasons to air it. Now that it's off the list, what's left? You tell me. What does it accomplish?
And you said you won't watch it. Why not? Is it "just a clump of cells," but deciding to abort it was one of the "toughest decisions you've ever had to make?"
Are we going down that road?

My only issue with live streaming it is are you potentially setting up this person to be considered a martyr? Are you giving terrorists something tangible that they can show to others and say, "look at how this brave follower stood up to the infidels and bravely accepted his fate for the cause."?
