Yeah, but if they do that at school nowadays its sensitivity training and bully prevention seminars.

The zero tolerance for bullying push in schools has done significant damage. I was bullied in middle school and while it was rough, it did no long term damage. And the bully is a real loser in our 40s.

To be fair, NYC tried to ban sugary soft drinks and we lost our minds because of freedoms. You can't have it both ways.

I personally err on the side of freedom, but that means I can't bitch about government not doing anything to stop fatties from getting fat.

Calories in, calories out. Many reasons.

Weak parents, weak teachers. Zero discipline anymore. Guidance counselors and teachers can report you to the police. Soft, liberal teachings and methodologies. Cant imagine PE class is anything of substance anymore. Less parents putting their kids into physical activities than generations before.

American business culture. Lots of dual income homes, have to pay more in taxes now than ever so the welfarians can sit on their asses and socialist activist non profits can get their $ via state dept laundered overseas and back money. Parents away from their children more. And much less folks are going into labor jobs, increased pressure for everyone to go to college.

Food. Many parents know little about diet or cooking, buy exorbitant quantity American food. That, to me, is an public educational failure. One shouldn't be able to graduate high school without knowing some about cooking and grocery shopping. Just because something is organic or marketeted as healthy doesn't mean it is, even for kids metabolism. When I actually go in to get my groceries, I'm amazed to see how much shite, and shite it is, people are buying. When I come back from deployments, my eyes get big in the airports seeing all the fat fricks compared to much of the rest of the world. The second thing I notice when I get back are all the fast food places, food in strip malls, food everywhere and every line is 10 cars deep minimum at any given time.

Culture. Look at the dogshit on TV, music, music videos, and now even sports, and the hidden undertones riddled with liberal agendas. Fat is okay and they're attempting to 1984 our instinctual eyeballs. And then, 'Look, there's a kid who won $1M on TV playing a fricking video game, mom I can make money doing that.' Additionally we could go on and on about increased welfare, social benefits and their result.

Technology. Here, give him the iPad so he stops crying! Here's your favorite show little Braxlyn. Kids watch videos of other people playing games. They care more about their online presence than their IRL one, and they are becoming more awkward in social settings with other kids. Covid has made that exponentially worse for youngins.

Its endless and getting worse.

I don’t understand this either, our kids eat what they want when they want and how ever much they want and both are cut up lil dudes.

To overcome child hood metabolism in itself seems like an amazing feat

No one is asking the government to control what and how much people eat. That is wrong and stupid. I don’t need the mayor to decide for me how much soda I can drink.

People should take personal responsibility for what they eat and their children’s diet.

Our current fatass nation is an indictment of our society and culture not our government.

We have this thing called the food pyramid (aka "My Plate") that the government started pushing in the late 70s. It has as it's "base" something 11 servings of grains and carbs. We've also pushed breakfast onto kids as a "can't miss" meal - when "breakfast" often mostly just looks like dessert. We've also foisted nasty industrial seed and nut oils on them (soybean oil now accounts for ~8% of all ingested calories). etc etc

There are 660 calories in a happy meal (not counting drink).

A 4 year old needs a little over 1000 calories per day.

Go ahead and check how much time children get for recess at your local schools. It is likely 15 minutes a day.

Maybe that’s true. Idk. Don’t know you. But I know a lot of overweight to borderline obese people who scoff at the idea that they are.

Sam Ginn, Here here my friend, nice synopsis.

I went to the grocery with the wife just yesterday and its month end here so very very crowded. As I looked at people's carts there was a direct correlation between them and their bodies.

When traffic is backed up out onto the road at your local club store....you can guarantee its some fat family waiting to get a parking spot in front of the store. Something you rarely see on a stair well....fat people.

Its simply consuming less calories than you expend, its not rocket science.

Ive also noticed living abroad that living is conducive to a healthier lifestyle. The market, gym, local grocery, post office, bank, hardware all a couple of blocks from the house. Unlike when I lived in the states and had to get in the car and drive out of the gated community to get a loaf of bread or any other errand.

This is because of the poors.

Our children have been in low income and middle class school districts.
Every kid in the low income school district was obese. Black, hispanic, white, it didn't matter. I could probably count on one hand the thin white kids at their school. We moved to a middle class school district a couple years back. Most everyone is thin upper-middle class white kids.

I went to my nephew’s 10U football game last weekend. They had multiple kids on the OL/DL that weighed as much or more than I do.

School lunches that were designed to help kids gain weight in ww2 and Vietnam now are making kids fat.

No joke I’ve ate those sugary oatmeal packs as dessert before. Most cereals are all sugar

No. We throw money and food stamps at them to continue the cycle. They learn that from their single mothers who are all morbidly obese. This has been going on ever since the Dems and LBJ destroyed the nuclear family for blacks.

Unless you’re talking about COVID killing off everyone with co-morbidities. Maybe that will work?

The school system “nutritionist” at our kids low income school said they put vitamins in the high sugar school foods because that’s the only way these poor kids will get them. They won’t eat healthy low calorie foods. Their thinking is to have fat kids with vitamins as opposed to skinny kids with vitamin deficiencies.

frickin true. Mixed use neighborhoods are the best and I preach this gospel all the time.
