Any stat like this that doesn't break it down by race is useless.

Video games, tablets, over priced healthy food, cheap fast available shite for food, cost of living so hight both parents working full time. Many contributing factors.

Which "healthy food" is "over-priced"?

Over priced may have been the wrong term, but healthy is definitely more expensive and less convenient in a busy lifestyle. (Fresh veggies and meat)

Everyone always says this, but I'm not convinced. I'm somewhat shocked at how much it costs anytime I go to a fast food place.

Most poor people eat out at fast food places and are too lazy to cook.

Without a microwave and fast food place on every corner, they would starve.

When I had a broken ankle I ordered out for a month. It cost me more than triple what I normally spend for food. It was around $800. I also gained a bunch of weight

How is that even possible?

Kids don't go outside or play sports anymore. They spend all of their recreational time playing video games and the parents are okay with it because... at least they're not breaking the law or doing drugs.

Big Scrub, you and me both. I've had multiple debates on this very topic on this board.

Healthy food is not expensive. People need to stop using organic juice bars and Whole Foods as their barometers by which to measure the cost of "healthy food."

Items like veggies, fruits, beans, and eggs are some of the cheapest things you can get at the grocery store. If you want to eat healthy and on a budget, it only takes a modicum of effort and planning.

Then there's the "not enough time to cook" argument, which is bullshite. There's about a dozen healthy dinner recipes I can rattle off the top of my head that would take only slightly more time than sitting in a drive-thru.

Eggs! What are they, like $3-4/dozen for really good cage-free organic ones? You can also get ground beef and pork for not-outrageous prices - especially if you have the price card for your supermarket.

I can assure you I can put together vastly healthier meals for less money than going to McDonalds every day.

For the high-end stuff, yep.

But damn, I buy the Publix brand for like $2.19 for 18.

Throw in a box of decently-healthy cereal, a gallon of milk, and some bananas and you've just bought a week's worth of breakfast for like 12 bucks.

Of course, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me that eggs, cereal, milk, and bananas fail to constitute healthy breakfast choices.

I was in college 2009-2013 and I’d say vast majority were in decent shape. Same in high school. We had maybe 2-3 girls and 4 guys out of a class of 43 who were fat.

I look at college and high school kids now and it’s way way worse. It’s becoming a huge problem

It’s broken down by race. Just not in the image of the table I posted.

Well, I don't think bananas and cereal are particularly healthy, no. But bacon and eggs just aren't that expensive.

This is the most annoying of all arguments.

I eat mostly Whole Foods; not the grocery store but actual, Whole Foods. I’m not ridiculous about it. I’m not one of these psychos who will never allow myself to enjoy a donut, or hell even the occasional trip to McDonald’s. But in my day to day life, I want to be able to name and pronounce the ingredients in what I eat.

My mother made me build a plate when I was little that had one green, one “meat”, one starch. We had 2 beverage options - milk or water. She was macros before macros were cool.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume they are active AF. Playing several hrs a day. That's outstanding!

In HS I played football and basketball and ate 10k calories a day and didn’t gain a lb

I don’t eat enough green vegetables but I don’t eat anything that did not grow in the ground or had a mother. It’s a simple rule that works.

The "most annoying of all" arguments is to insist on some honesty?
