Under one draft of the plan being discussed, the IRS would be tasked with depositing checks worth $300 every month per child younger than 6, as well as $250 every month per child aged 6 to 17. That would amount to $3,600 over the course of the year for young children, as well as $3,000 a year for older children, the officials said.

Unlike the stimulus checks, the Biden administration and Democratic lawmakers are hoping to make these child benefits a permanent government program

The benefit could prove costly, increasing the federal deficit by as much as $120 billion for one year, according to estimates by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan group. But it could curb child poverty in the U.S. by more than 50%, researchers at Columbia University have found.

Minorities should be happy.....

Nothing says keep pumping out fatherless kids like free money.

Does this replace other entitlement programs, or is it in addition to?

Addition. It’s basically impossible to get rid of entitlements once they are in place

This will not pull most children out of poverty. Bad parenting choices will keep them there.

So, give them Welfare AND another benefit to encourage them to continue to sit around eating Doritos and spitting out babies?

Makes perfect sense...

So, sort of like child support.

Women really won't need men at all with big daddy government.

Would this negate child support?

Surely this will incentivize people to work and not abuse the system more.

Or just take $250 less per child in income tax from all tax pay...oh, wait, now I see what they are doing.
