The only 2 options I see are Vance and DeSantis

The biggest factor is Trump and how he chooses to participate in the nomination process

Ideally… he takes a quiet role and chooses not to get involved. We all know that’s not going to happen.

Worst case, it becomes heated and divisive and whoever emerges out of it will be too damaged to win the general

Other dark horses but really don’t see a path, especially in a general

Rubio (won’t sell in the midwest)

RFK (just too cooky for mainstream people and his voice won’t work in a campaign setting)

Massie. Not a chance, lost his own primary

Cruz. Too Pro Israel and too tied to establishment. Not likable enough to win

Youngkin. Don’t see it… but he seems to be a good enough politician

I’m sure Haley, Trump JR, Rand Paul, Josh Hawley and some other names will be mentioned but have 0 chance

It will be between Vance and Desantis. I can see Rand also running but no chance.

I'd vote for either but Vance seems a little spacey to me at times. Not sure if thats just a personality thing or if its because hes chafing at pretending to be something hes not but sometimes he just seems off to me. Love Desantis as an executive but he was a surprisingly bad campaigner in 2024. If I could anoint one Republican to be POTUS in 2028 it would be him but I'm not sure he will have what it takes to get through the primary process after his poor showing last time.

It will be interesting to see what Trump chooses to do. Insert himself and make it messy?

The only move Vance has is to stay with Trump. He’s simply not going to be able to play himself as separate from Trump

That’s what Harris tried to do with Biden and it didn’t work.

So the best case for Vance is Trump turns it around and has better approval. That’s going to be really tough.

DeSantis has a better play as he isn’t tied to Trump and has a history of being in opposition

With that said… Trump will have a strong contingent of loyalists… and if Trump goes after DeSantis that may prove to be too difficult to win without their support.

It’s a tough go and whoever wins the nomination has to thread a needle to pull it off

DeSantis is awkward… but I like him and I like what he’s done with The Free State of Florida.

Vance is.. I dunno. He seems astroturfed as all get out. He’s like the Obama through the Looking Glass. Same set up.

I like Rubio.

I want Cruz on tUSSC.

Trump will need an R win or risk being thrown into Guantanamo. A Dem controlled DOJ would be a nightmare for him.

Hopefully he’ll realize this and play nice.

However, I could see Teump trying to run Don Jr. or something like that out of pure ego and turn it into a total shitshow.

Need to look for former Governors (like DeSantis).

No more candidates from the legislature. Executive experience should be requited next cycle.

Unfortunately, I fully expect Trump to commit a continuous series of inexplicable follies in the next 2 years as the realization that his time in politics is coming to an end. The landscape in a year may be completely different. If I were DeSantis I'd just constantly bang the drum about my actual list of accomplishments as the best governor in the country and try to fly above the noise coming in the next 2 years.

Focus on the democrats. You won't know who they are a stooge of.

Tell us your God damned democrat.

The only guy who might bluff his way into it is a Jew so good look with that.

Trump was probably going to endorse Don, Jr. (because Ivanka wants nothing to do with any of this...). He has a score to settle with Vance and Rubio for saying bad things about him, once... and he can't trust them to actually pardon him if anything caught up to him when he leaves office if it would hurt their Presidency. But Trump's endorsement will now be worth nothing, one way or another. He's done.

To grift then he will beg whoever wins for a cabinet position. He’s already said that’s his goal.
