If you believe the NBA was wrong, what would have been a better decision?

While most seem to be behind the NBA and it's actions, some seem to have an issue with Silver's decision - hell, a few even seem to be supportive of Sterling.
I've heard arguments that bring up reasonable issues with the precedent that was set today, but I've yet to hear a single and logical alternative. The 40 page thread on the decision is a disaster and offers little in the way of discussion of an alternative, hence the reason for starting this thread.
IMO, I don't believe there was a perfect decision on the table, but Silver chose the best one available. The precedent and potential slippery slope is trivial compared to moral and financial damage that would have been done to the NBA had he come off with a softer decision.
That being said, if you're Adam Silver, what would you have done differently?

Banned from any Nba arena from life... That's plenty. I don't feel like he should be banned from his own facilities.

Let the guy keep his team. Let the players get out of their contracts if they want. I'm sure you'd have a lot of brothas wanting to play for Sterling.

I guess I get the premise, but your product was in a crisis. It is childish to believe this was not at least partially motivated by money, and 13+ major corporate sponsors had already pulled away from the Clippers. How long do you wait before that erosion starts to cut away at the entire NBA?

Not sure if I get any credit for discussing a somewhat-original angle?

Idk but the punishment needs to be one that can be issued fairly across the league. If what Sterling said is enough to get banned, I need to see more people banned when racist remarks are made. If the league can't handle that then this punishment was probably too severe.

I think silver did what he had to do.
I hate the lynch mob mentality though.
I also hate that the golddigger was able to get some sort of fricked up "revenge" and vindicated because her sugar daddy quit with the handouts. Not a fan of blackmail or extortion.
Finally a private conversation being the impetus for this shite storm bothers me.
Again, due to the asinine lynch mob mentality it would have taken a man with more balls than brains to take a stand in silver's position and do less than what he did. End of day, silver took the easy way out, because the angry mob wanted blood and an angry mob is dangerous.

I feel like what they are doing is somewhat unconstitutional if you ask me.

I guess, although they won't be his for long. I fully believe the owners will vote him out, and I'm behind that decision 100%. His inclusion in the league hurts their bottom line, and as such, he will be gone.
