I have heard that towing with an SUV can lead to transmission getting warmer because of the design of SUV Body vs a Truck body and the amount of air flow or lack of air flow a SUV body allows. Anyone else heard of this or that just BS.

BS for a properly equipped SUV. The transmissions aren't air cooled in anything anymore that I know of.

As previously stated, not good information. The following GM vehicles come with transmission coolers as a standard feature. Same with Ford.

- Chevy Suburban/Tahoe
- GM Yukon/Yukon XL
- Cadillac Escalade/ESV
- Ford Expedition/Explorer

I have had 3 Toyotas and the brakes sucked on all of them. Working trailer brakes were a must for the bayboat if you towed at highway/interstate speeds.

The manual airbags for the back of that sequoia are only like $150. If that one has the 5.7 with the 6 speed then you have one of the most reliable drive trains ever.

Edzachary. I've read about that motor before. It has the same output my 07.5 ram 6.7 diesel did when new. I can live with lower GPM's, I want capability and I own ET

I dont think we'll ever see that in pickup trucks but who knows

If you'll notice in the picture the turbine outlet looks to have some type of exhaust treatment right behind it. I've heard rumor we can expect to see aftertreatment on everything starting in about 2027, including gas engines.

THAT will be a nightmare.

I have a 3.5 eco boost f150 and my wife has an expedition max with the 3.5 also. We pull a 22’ bay boat 3-4 times a month esp during duck season and I also have a 18x54 center console Gatortail. The bay boat has a double axel sport trail trailer. Both pull the boats with no problem at all. The eco boost actually pulls better than the Chevy I had with the 5.3.

Eco Boosts are a crap shoot on keeping turbos alive

They last 300k miles, maybe more, on good synthetic 5w-40 oil and regular changes.

Well maybe with the EPA rule passing that will not happen. If so my days of buying a new car will be over. Just drop in a new crate motor and keep it going.

Serious question. We have a working farm, and we don't run any diesel trucks.

We had a 1-ton diesel, but it was more problems than it was worth and hard to service compared to gas.

You say you'll tow 8-10 times per year. We tow hundreds of times per year, as in daily.
We have a mix of 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 2 ton trucks. 6 of them. No diesel.

You can imagine the types of loads. 10 ton peanut trailers, 30+ foot gooseneck cattle trailer, lowboy with bulldozer, lowboy with rolls of hay, full nurse tanks, even a 30-foot Sea Ray. Point is, gas will do it.

Guess the main question was, would i’ll be able to to close to 6000 pounds with this sequoia?

I have a Tundra with the same engine and 6k is no issue at all. You might even be better on the ramp than a truck with extra weight over the axle.

Read your owner's manual about towing, it will help. I.e. Activate tow/haul if you have it and put it in S4 instead of in drive, etc. Huge difference.

But that's an uneducated opinion and I have no idea what package you have on the Sequoia.

Me personally, a ram 2500 gas burner. It's currently the only thing that is a decently good value for the cost

That’s what I bought in January. Replaced a 2012 f250 lariat diesel. Couldn’t bring myself to drop $80-90k on a direct replacement. So far so good gets 16 mpg highway with the 4.11 rear end and rides surprisingly nice. Paid $49k for 4x4 2500 tradesman with 6.4

OP if you must change then find an f250 with the 6 speed and 6.2L gas motor.

I drive a 2015 Ram w/ hemi at work with 180000 miles and that thing would run circles around my Silverado. We often pull a SxS with it and it doesn’t kill the mpg like my personal truck.

I have never been a Dodge guy, but I will certainly give them a look when I’m in the market again.

Just my .02

I have an older SUV with a 2500 drivetrain with exception of the rear suspension, its way softer, and a GAS engine. Unless you are towing DAILY, get gas. At 5500lbs, get a 1500, they ride so much better than 2500's. The suspension in the truck version of my drivetrain can tow 50% more but it is not near the trade off for that stiff arse suspension.
