Weirdest thing you've seen in the woods that nobody believes you about.

If you've spent much time in the woods you probably have one of these. Here's mine.
Duck retrieving carnivorous nutria.
Yep. We suspected something was getting our ducks and it was too cold to be gators. I was in flooded timber off Bayou Dorcheat and we were slaying them. This was back when we had ducks. I shot a big ole drake Mallard and next thing you know it looks like a freaking lab is going out to get him. It got him and took off. I followed as well as I could but lost him. I got over to where he was going though and started seeing feathers on the water and then, sitting on a stick platform he'd made was the biggest Nutria I've ever seen plucking my bird. I blew a large hole in him and took my bird back. My buddy was watching the whole thing and was as dumbfounded as I was.
I'll start with that one.

Not too strange but we used to hunt some islands way up D'arbonne creek, we would find remnants of old whiskey stills.

Running Yo-Yo's we kept getting fish that were nothing but bones hanging or pulled up in trees.
Figured out Mink were swimming off the bank and eating them

I'd say those were probably my family's from back in the day but I suspect those are now under Lake Claiborne.

Walked up on two turtles mating. I scared them, and the female trapped the male when she closed up her shell.

Pulled up to a tree one night and the line was up in the tree on the other side. Pulled the boat around and there was an owl up there with our catfish in his claws.

Sitting bottom of a tree squirrel hunting. Heard one coming down the trunk I’m on . Stayed very still. Giant Owl unbeknownst to me stalking same animal from tree 50 years away. Said Owl comes swooping right at me and my trunk to pick off our mutual prey 5’ above my head I’m rolling down to ground screaming as I feel the turbulence of his wings. The death squeals of our mutual prey upon being carried out of the forest still haunts me to this day.

Was hunting 250yds from my cousin. We both went together and I had to walk through his shooting lane to get to my stand. His shooting lane was a logging road. On the way out It was dark but I could see his silhouette about 60yds in front of me. An orb of light passed slowly between us from my right to left across the road. He asked if I had a light and I said no. He said it was probably a deer and the moon was shining on its eyes but neither of us had a flashlight and it was as bright as one but just a ball of light. No way the moon could light a deers eye that bright. Not to mention a deer would not have walked between us. Never saw anything like that again.

Hunting outside a bedding area with a ditch between me and the ridge across from me.
About an hour before dusk an armadillo comes out the field at edge of ridge chasing another armadillo at Mach 6, coming dead at me. Chases him down the ridge and as they get to the creek/ditch the chasee takes a left down a gradual slope to the creek.
Chaser armadillo never slowed down and jumps the ditch completely like frickin Evel Knievel. Walked down there after my hunt to the spot and it was EASILY 5 ft across the ditch at that point.
Hate dillo’s but that SOB was a “ baw”!!!

A topless woman.
We leased some land next to a golf course and the adjoining neighborhood (The Bluffs in West Fel). The lease was fairly new to us and I wanted to walk the property lines to learn them one morning when it was drizzling rain. It was still pretty early 7-7:30 or so. I was close to the line which followed the back yards of a few of the houses. A middle aged lady walked out on her back porch, in nothing but some panty hose on her lower half, and topless. I guess she was checking the temperature/weather, as it was a cold front coming through with the rain.. I was wearing an orange vest, and I tried to hide behind a big oak tree so she wouldn't think I was peeping on purpose. She stood there for a few seconds, then went back inside. I headed south down the property line pretty quick after that. I couldn't believe what happened and laughed about it for the rest of the morning. I knew nobody would believe me, but I've shared this story numerous times, despite the disbelief. That's ok though, those titties are burned into my memory, and something I'll never forget. Apologies if you and your significant other lived in The Bluffs around 2010.

Duck hunting and a mallard ws committed to coming in. We are in a blind and jump up to take a shot, as we get the guns on him a hawk swoops in and grabbed the duck. It was shocking but awesome.
Same place, we had a fresh heavy rain and while we were walking out from our hunt (another time), we see these dark red balls in the water. Probably see 10 or more. Walk up to check it out and it's fire ants.

I was 10 and hunting blackbirds with my pellet gun. We lived in a very rural area in Raceland, LA (near Thibodaux/Houma area) full of cattle herders. I was walking down our shell roadway, and I saw a cougar run through a field, hurdle a barbed wire fence and ditch, take one stride on the road, and then hurdle the other fence/ditch on the other side of the road.
When I described what I saw to my father, he told me it had to be a large bobcat, but I'm 100% certain it was too big to be a bobcat. This thing was long and fast as hell.
I'm still convinced in what I saw even though no one ever believed me.

Finished up an afternoon hunt when no more light to see. I climbed down from my lean up and headed out slowly. Flashlight in hand and shining my path when I flipped the light beam into the thick woods to my right. Saw a pair of eyes shining and froze my progression. Kept the light aimed right at those eyes so I could identify it. Looked like a deers eyes by the color. Those eyes turned around and slowly headed towards me in an arch pattern. Still froze and holding light on those eyes. Soon a small yearling deer emerged on the path and slowly headed towards me. The whole time I’m not moving and kept the light on those eyes. The yearling crept right up to me and put his (button buck) nose about 4” from my right leg. His nostrils were making a subtle popping sound as he breathed in. Still holding my light in his eyes. After about 6 seconds he jerked his head back and slowly turned. He proceeded to walk in the same direction down the path I was walking. I stood there in utter disbelief of what just happened. Gave him time to meander away before proceeding to my truck.

Squirrel hunting with my dog. Walked in saw a young yearling deer. Dog goes after it chasing it until both were out of sight and hearing. A few mins later i hear it running back towards me. The yearling was chasing her back to the same spot.

Ever heard of the Brown Mountain Lights? Might have been a similar phenomenon, which is still unexplained but interesting nonetheless.

Killed a big arse beaver one morning walking across my food plot with my .44 mag

I was bowhunting once and kept hearing a squirrel gnawing on something in a nest. A little while later something came crashing to the ground from the nest. It was a box turtle shell. The squirrel came down the tree and spent the next hour or two trying to get the shell back up into the nest. Sometimes he’d make it 3 feet off the ground before dropping it. Sometimes he’d make it 30 feet and drop it. Eventually he made it and went back to gnawing on it. Kept me entertained.

Had a full size horse walk down the trail I was bow hunting on in south Louisiana. Early morning the sun had just started to peak and I hear the loudest crashing through the woods I have ever heard. Giant branches breaking could hear the foot steps. My heart was POUNDING. Next thing I know this blonde horse pops out and walks 25 yards from me broadside and just continues on. I snapped a few pictures sent it off to my buddies who were out in the woods with me.
Turns out it had broken loose a few miles away. Owners came and tracked it down later that afternoon in an open field near where I was hunting.

It was a cold winter morning with a light drizzle. I was hunting in a North Louisiana River trail. The leaves were quiet and the moon was still out. All of a sudden there was a flash of lightning. After that, I saw a creature slowly walking through the woods. Although it was blurry from the rain, I could see what looked like big foot creeping around the woods. As soon as it appeared, it vanished. No other wildlife was around. I picked a new hunting location after that.
