If I have my choice it is either a 1100 wingmaster or a Benelli Cordoba .

Are you usually picking them off after they light in fields, etc? Interested in hearing what others do beside calling.

Was thinking this past season about setting up before dark in a corn field in full camo and picking them off at distance with a .22 LR.

I shoot a benelli sbe2 12ga. Overkill? Nah. I'll shoot that thing all day no problem. 2 3/4" 7 1/2 shot is what I use to shoot skeet, doves and squirrels. Why is everyone bashing the 12 when it comes to dove hunting? I don't know any grown men that don't shoot a 12ga at doves. Y'all feel it busts them up too bad?

I've actually never shot a crow with a .22-250

I've seen it before though, and it was far more glorious than anything I've ever done

I'm not bashing, just think the 20 handles better. People jump to the 12 sometimes without considering other options.

My motto is always shoot what you like. The more people shooting anything the better.

I've considered the options. I have a New England 20ga crack barrel I could shoot doves with but use as a slug gun, a semi auto 20ga that my gf uses and then my benelli 12. I've shot the 20 at ducks, doves, and a lot of skeet. I'll take my benelli any day. Even if I do demolish the occasional bird, I still put more in the bag and have less cripples. There's a bit of a difference in my 12 and 20 as far as recoil when I'm shooting steel but as far as light target loads, I don't notice the difference.

You know, you could always use this as an excuse to go buy a new gun.

I'm not sure if the OP is asking about skeet, or about sporting clays (which a lot of folks south of I-10 also call "skeet."

20 gauge is plenty adequate for either skeet -- but 98.3% of skeet, trap and sporting clays shooters use 12 gauge guns.

A semi-auto will help reduce recoil (and despite the ads you see, a gas operated semi will do a better job of this than an inertia system). This isn't that important if you're only gonna shoot an occasional round of skeet. But if you shoot 4-6 boxes in a session, and shoot a few times per month, it'll make a difference.

I know plenty of serious shooters who prefer an O/U. But I also know more than a few who have undergone rotator cuff repairs after years of shooting those O/U's.

I know a couple of good shooters who use pump action shotguns. You need to be very quick with a pump to handle the four doubles stations on a skeet field (and the true pairs at sporting clays).

Just my $.02

I know you use a shotgun, but what kind (gauge)?

I've never shot skeet. Been invited, don't know what to bring.

Try to get your hands on a Browning BPS 10 Gauge with 3 1/2" Turkey loads. That oughta do the trick. lol.

I shoot a Beretta A300 12 Gauge semi-auto with 2 3/4" 1oz 7.5 shot Winchester AA Target loads. Works for me.
