I'm incredibly sorry for your loss.

Your father was a very kind and giving man.

He once traded me a 10ft solid oak 9x9 for a jar of clear and a case of beer.

That beam became the legs for a platform bed that I still have. I believe I had the pleasure of meeting you that day.

I enjoyed reading your dads story from your eyes. Even though he will be missed, it seems like you all had a very fun and fulfilling amount of life experiences together.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful post and memory of your father. When we are called to leave this earth, a man should be remembered by his acts of kindness and how much he helped others. Paul was definitely a giver and went out of his way countless times to share his experience and wisdom with others.

During the pirogue build several years ago, I exchanged email and phone conversations with Paul noting I couldn’t attend the dates and I was interested in a mini-pirogue. He was more than accommodating to my build requests and encouraged me to stop by his house whenever I was in the area. Three days after our communication, Paul called to confirm my pirogue was ready. I couldn’t believe with a full plate of other things to do, Paul made it a priority to design and build a miniature pirogue in less than 72 hours. Upon our meeting late that afternoon, Paul welcomed me into his house and offered to feed me dinner... something I’ll never forget. Thank you Fishfighter and may you RIP

Here’s my lasting memory. Measures 4 feet long and to perfect scale.

Your dad was one of my favorite posters and will be missed but not as much as you and you family will. I never met him but he seemed to be to be a really good dude.

Stick around and if you have any questions there are some fine folks here who give great advice.

I am so sorry. I lost my dad on Dec 26 two years ago. He wasn't feeling well on Christmas day but wanted to be with the grandkids instead of going to the ER. He said he would go the next morning. The next morning he went down hill quick. It was only the second time in my life I had not been with him for Christmas. I got the call he wasn't doing well and he passed a few hours later while I was at the airport on the way home.

I pretty much learned most of what I know about hunting, fishing, gardening, woodwork, and hard work (maybe the thing I value the most) from him.

Thank you for posting this said news and your heartwarming words of respect & love.

I only know your father from his postings here and he seemed like such an awesome guy. I've said prayers for Fish & his family since your brother passed away, his ALS diagnosis, and will do so again today.

May God bless FF and his family.

Thx for letting us know. I wish I could've met your dad IRL. He seemed like an awesome dude! He was very well-respected on a particular board I hang out on on those rare occasions I come to TD anymore. I'm so sorry to hear of his death, but I'm glad he's no longer in pain. RIP Fish!
