re: Random: Feeling Especially Grateful Today - mingoswamp
Sure makes me wish I had chronicled the stories I've heard over the years that I thought I would remember forever to make sure my grandsons know how life was before indoor plumbing was the norm....

re: Random: Feeling Especially Grateful Today - mingoswamp
Well put NC. Got me thinking way back how much Dad used to love taking us fishing, and how much fun we had. He didn't like to hunt, but gave twelve year old Mingo a Sear's crack barrel 20 gauge fifty three years ago for Christmas & a Mossberg 500 12 gauge for my 16th birthday, both of which I still ...

re: Now that christmas is over, how much do you think you put in Salvation buckets? - mingoswamp
About $200 total, would have given more but there was a number of times they weren't outside my grocery store. I think the SA is the one of the best charities going. ...

re: Casablanca New Orleans Fan - mingoswamp
I had a couple of them back then. They were considered the top of the line, really quiet, moved a lot of air, and could be pretty ornate. You probably need to talk to somebody at a residential lighting showroom that is over than 60 years old....

re: Odd things you've come across while doing home repairs/renovations - mingoswamp
Had a house that built in the 50s and had the old electrical screw in fuse panel. I was changing a ceiling light fixture and ended up pulling every dang fuse out, but still had power at the ceiling box. My electrician friend came over and found a penny had been placed behind a fuse holder. Apparentl...

re: Appliance repairmen, Dryer help - mingoswamp
That still sounds like a SSR on the control board failed with the contact closed on the heater resulting in power always being applied when the dryer is running even when in the 'air' setting. I've seen this in industrial applications, but would have thought an appliance mfg. would have been too che...

re: Appliance repairmen, Dryer help - mingoswamp
It's possible there is a solid state relay on the control board. When they fail, it's always in the closed position. That may be why there is always power going to the heating element....

re: Ducks - mingoswamp
My hunting buddy is up in South Dakota pheasant hunting and said the ducks were stacked and flooded fields everywhere. Hopefully an extended freeze pushes them down soon. They're still releasing water from northern reservoirs into the MO river and still have miles of standing water south of Omaha. N...

re: Small pressure washer recs - mingoswamp
I got a Greenworks 1800psi back in June to wash my 12 x 40 patio that hadn't been washed since it was installed 8 years ago, it was pretty nasty. It was in the 90*s that day, so I don't know if that caused this, but I had two hoses spring leaks on day two. I took it back and got the GW2000 that appe...
