Raccoon issues

Having major issues with raccoons in my protein feeders.
I've snuck out there and sniped a few but I'm not making much of a dent.
Besides fly bait and traps, anyone got any useful tips to keep them away without messing up my deer?
I'm about to a point where I am going to resort to trapping them but I was hoping someone might have had success with something else.
When I say issues, I mean upwards of a dozen at a time sometimes.

you are offering up food in the woods and you’re surprised animals are eating it? Did you put up a sign that says “no coons allowed”?

A couple nights of trapping with dog proof hand traps and you have all 12 caught. They can't resist an opportunity to grab a little cat food in a trap.
There's an old farmer's trick with a certain bait that kills them on the spot, but it also stays in the food chain and is highly illegal.

I was going to suggest this but didn't want the backlash
Coons need to be declared a nuisance animal, when their furs became worthless they exploded in numbers.
Twelve isn't that bad at some of our places, we have them eating from right at dark till daylight non stop and have pictures of as many as 30 at one time.

Hang some brooms up on those feeders, coons hate brooms.

Conibear/5 gallon/little cat food and the protein. Do a quick google search. I’ve heard it works not saying that I do this on my place…

It works pretty well but not as good as dog proof. Only issue with dog proof is you need to be there a couple of days.
A square tub works better though.

Thanks guys. I never have ran traps but it's looking like my best option at this point. Nightly stalks back to the feeder are getting old quick and I'm only getting 1/2 each time. Not to mention it's gonna start jacking up my deer movement with bow season about to open.

I know of 3 coons that died last night from acute lead toxicity.

You got to call in some people that know about coons and coon hunting.
Somebody that wants to run their dogs.
Maybe try out their new coon squaller.
Hit 'em with that tree shaker.

A few questions.
Do you have a camera on the feeder?
Do you have a suppressed 22LR?

You are baiting near good coon habitat. You’re paying the tax for it. There have been extensive studies done on this and even if you reduce their numbers by 90% they will repopulate to the same level within a year. Move out of the bottoms and to more upland areas, or take your medicine.

He’s not being a smartass. He’s trying to prevent the OP from wasting a bunch of time and effort trying to do something that’s almost impossible.

Second on hand traps. Throw a little peanut butter in them and they can’t resist. You’ll have them caught about as fast as you can dispose and rebait
