I want to have empathy for you but

1) new engines are not sold with props
2) it is on the customer to buy the proper prop for his boat and if it is aftermarket to make sure it fits
3) David wade marine is the mercury expert in our area and is a stand up guy that goes out of his way to help whenever he can
4) i appears that there is some misunderstanding here and you would be doing your nephew a favor by not spewing incoherent nonsense about it on the internet
5) happy thanksgiving

Is a place with the word marine in the name, not a professional dealer?

this is a solid post ^^^^^^

===========================================================

i had a friend who went to a favorite boat launch of mine and came back ranting about what a terrible place and the guy was total dick to them and told them to leave if they didnt like his attitude so they did.

next time i went, i asked the nice old man that ran the launch who always was super helpful and would give you the shirt off of his back to help you so i asked him if he remembered what happened.

you gonna love this:
he says they pull up to the launch blocking it not ready to launch, took 10-15 minutes to get all the shite out the truck and load the boat, then their gas tank cap wasnt on right and spilled a few gallons of gas in the boat which they backed up to the launch and proceeded to let run out all over the launch and into the water. so he told them to haul their arse and never come back.

doing shite like that can get the launch shut down and the DEQ quarantine and coast guard cleanup hazard team up your arse

but according to them the guy at the launch was being a total dick for no reason at all

this story is real and a perfect example of how it depends who is telling the story to decide what really went on and who was wrong

I have a 24p & 21p 3 blade 15-1/4” prop he can use to get back on the water but you’ll need to purchase the flo-torque hub. Have plenty of backing washers and nuts so tell them to leave out if kit and discount applicable amount.

Woof. I have a feeling there is way more to this, bc David Wade is definitely not someone that tries to screw people over. I even recall him walking my buddy through issues at 4am while we were trying to sort out alarm issues (lol typical mercury) on the Mississippi river.

This was probably more someone trying to take a cheaper route out even though it wasnt the right way

Solas makes props for every engine manufacturer. Just cause the the box says Solas doesn’t mean it’s a cheap prop. Some of them are generic and may not perform like a labbed merc prop.

How long does it take to get the right kit 1 month or 2 months come on?

You saying this when it has been less than 1 month leads me to believe that you are likely the type of customer who is a problem at every establishment he visits. If you are not that type of person then calm down. If the hub kit he gave your nephew with the prop was incorrect then 1 of 2 things happened.

1.) the kit was packaged incorrectly and he will be filing a parts warranty claim and the correct part is on back order which would be why he couldn’t order a kit from Amazon or something because warranty wouldn’t reimburse him for it

2.) there is more to this that your nephew isn’t telling you.

Last Friday the lady that runs the office apologized to him first this continuous screw up. She knew he wanted to run his boat this week.

He is going to a prop shop with his boat to get a prop that will work.

As far as David Wade he done with this hack as he treated him like dirt!!!!

There nothing more than David Wade sold him a new motor.
David sold him a stainless prop which on the day he put the motor on he did not have.
The next business day he got the prop and hub kit.
From there it has been them trying to find the right kit to fit the spline and prop.
This will be going on close to a month which shows me David is not a stand up guy.
He could have tried to offer him his money back or another prop even if the cost was more.

And you are acting this way on Tuesday? And it is not even your boat?

Just wow is all I can say.

Great place to deal with. All the Mercury haters can suck it. I bought a 40 Merc from them a couple of years ago and I run it every other weekend, hard. Never an issue. I'm sure there isn't a lick of difference between Suzuki, Yamaha, and Evinrude in this category of engine but I chose DWM because 1)They are great to deal with, 2) close to my house, and 3) the Mercury brand is solid.

There is more to this story, as usual, I'm sure.

James, who is my nephew told me if he would have known it was an inferior prop he would have not bought it.

David, also did not tell him it was a cheap prop.

There's tons of info on the web on props, on something so critical I like to be informed.

Did the research, consulted with my dealer and on my 115 SHO, I changed a Yamaha 3b SS to a Solas 4b SS and have been happy with the result.

David Wade Marine has an excellent reputation, and has posted useful no b.s. info on this site and The Hull Truth.

Hope your nephew gets on the water soon.

DWM did me right on the service for my Verado. Something seems out of the ordinary in this situation.

David Wade Marine will get as much/all/any of my business as I possibly can give them from now on!

I read their posts on here- they ALWAYS are honest, informative, and helpful. Much appreciated!

The commentary by the OP is uncalled for on this forum- his nephew has an issue, not him, and his hearsay and rhetoric becomes increasingly abrasive with each new post.

Admins should remove the post.

I would like to help you or whoever out, but I can’t even begin to make any kind of sense out of what you’re trying to say. What motor was purchased from us? I know everything that has been sold and installed by us and likely installed it myself.

We are closed this entire week for the holiday. If you have David’s cell number, give him a call and discuss this with him and don’t try to hide behind a computer screen. Don’t forget to mention how you tried to handle this and trashing his name.

Good luck. Happy Thanksgiving.

nahh man, this is going to do nothing but drive business to him. This incoherent idiot is amusing to us all.
Let him continue to dig his own grave.

I’m sure there’s a lot more to this story. I would be willing to bet your nephew was supplied the correct hub kit. He probably didn’t know what the hell it was so he probably threw it out, accidentally or on purpose. I would imagine DWM has been dealing with trying to make this right, but if nephew communicates anywhere close to uncle, david probably is at his wits end trying to figure out how to help someone who wants something for free.

I guarantee you there is more to this than what we’re hearing from the uncle who speaks in verbal Rubik’s cube puzzles.
