Alternatives to Sevin Dust
Posted by weisertiger on 5/9/25 at 10:33 pm
Does anybody have any healthier alternatives to sevin dust? Not using chemicals like sevin dust, glyphosate, etc in the garden sounds great but has anybody actually tried organic/healthier solutions to pest and weed control that actually work?

What is your budget? I know where there is a new Polaris Ranger EV for sale for below cost
re: Polaris ranger crew 570
Posted by weisertiger on 2/17/25 at 6:31 pm to CajunTiger11
The price difference between the 570 and1000 (non XP) is usually close enough for the 1000 to be worth it. The difference in the an arms, cv shafts, bushings etc make it worth it to me. Add in that the 1000 comes standard with the roof and winch and it’s a no brainer in my opinion.

With that much property I would get a catahoula that stays outside and a then a different dog for inside. Do not put a catahoula puppy in your house unsupervised lol
re: California fires
Posted by weisertiger on 1/8/25 at 11:06 am to Lake08
50,000 acres of Beauregard and Vernon parish burned in the summer of 2023 for the same reason California has problems. Dead wood left on the ground just waiting for a spark. Hurricane Laura in 2020 put hundreds of thousands of pine trees on the ground and timber companies left them to rot because it wasn’t profitable to clean it up. Couple that with forestry companies no longer practicing regular control burns and this is what you get.
The Louisiana fires were started by arson, but were so big and hard to put out due to the overwhelming amount of fuel on the ground.

Olympic National Park Recs
Posted by weisertiger on 1/6/25 at 7:14 pm
I am looking at going to Olympic National Park at the end of August. Does anyone have advice on places to stay, things to be sure to see, how to make the most of my time there, etc.? Is that a good time to go or should I consider a different park?
Will be the wife and I looking for a break from Louisiana heat. We want to find some good hiking in rain forest and see some waterfalls.

re: First Lite, Sitka, Kuiu, Etc. in Mossy Oak?
Posted by weisertiger on 12/19/24 at 1:26 pm to weisertiger
Got the Peak Midweight jacket and pants in yesterday and pretty impressed at first looks. Time will tell about the durability but the fit is great, tons of pockets, and the fabric seems to be pretty warm. For how much cheaper it is than the other brands it seems like a great deal. They are currently running a 50% off sale.

First Lite, Sitka, Kuiu, Etc. in Mossy Oak?
Posted by weisertiger on 11/21/24 at 9:28 pm
I have always been a cheap arse when it comes to camo, but I really like a lot of the features, pockets, etc that the technical brands have on their stuff. Is there anybody who makes technical hunting gear in mossy oak patterns?

I don’t have much confidence in the Ranger brand anymore.
For whatever it is worth they are moving the salt water boats back to the original Ranger factory in Flippin, AR. The folks building the boats at that factory are a lot of the same ones who have been there for decades building the same way they always have. Pretty damn impressive facility

I run the MC and my next ones will be the dc2. My cameras are in really bad places for cell service so I’m hoping the dual antenna’s on the DC2 will help. I’m about to change out my antenna’s on my two MC’s to the 6dbi long range antennas and see if that makes a difference

A suspected Israeli airstrike reportedly hit near a Russian airbase in Syria accused of housing weapons for Iran and its terror proxies
Up to 30 missiles were fired at a target near the Khmeimim air base in Latakia, with footage spreading online of massive explosions near the Russian facility overnight, the Telegraph reported.
The appearance of secondary explosions suggest the strikes hit a weapons or munitions depot, according to the UK outlet.

re: Which is worse: chiggers or poison ivy?

I have been immune to poison ivy my whole life until this year. After enough exposure over time apparently you can develop a reaction to it. It was on my forearm and sucked pretty bad but I still vote chiggers
re: Dealership Service Counters

They are usually on a commission structure of some sort so they are heavily incentivized to upsell. Tough job. Nobody wants to be hearing from a service person.

re: When is the best time of year to buy a boat?
Posted by weisertiger on 7/29/24 at 8:34 am to LSUSUPERSTAR
Boat model year changes August 1 for lots if manufacturers. Meaning anything left on the sales floor will now be prior year model. August-November you could probably find some good deals. When it gets close to spring people will probably hold on until selling season/boat show season which is January-February

Tons of inventory around. Boat model year changes in August. Then there will be a whole frick ton of non current year models dealers will be dumping.

You may be able to move the tongue of your boat forward on the trailer so the hull fits all the way on the boards
WiseEye Customer Service
Posted by weisertiger on 6/24/24 at 1:10 pm
Last year I started running the wise eye mini cam with the 12v battery box. In January I lost two due to a flood. One of them I know for certain is ruined because it stayed submerged for a few days. The second one did not get submerged but I am still having issues with it. I called them today to ask if they would repair it if I sent it to them and they are sending me a brand new replacement camera! Everybody I spoke with was very helpful and I didn’t have to wait on hold for more than 15 seconds at any given time as they transferred me to the correct person.
