It is a Solaris prop which you have to use their hub kit.
Even more reason to not leave without it already installed.

At the end of the day with the Yamaha he would be on the water fishing.

Ah Ha! Willing to bet he (your son) cheaped out and bought an inferior prop not supported by mercury. Solis props are junk next to merc but they are cheaper. Also willing to bet he (your son) was told they (david Wade) would have order additional parts for the cheap prop to be compatible with his cash money motor. Casey posts on here but isn’t the owner of David Wade Marine and is a stand up dude.

Real baw would have David meet him as Sonic to return prop.

I told my nephew it is a cheap prop.
He going to take it back and buy a prop from a prop shop.
James, who is my nephew told me if he would have known it was an inferior prop he would have not bought it.
David, also did not tell him it was a cheap prop. David, sold him a motor.
My nephew mentioned looking at putting on a stainless steel prop.
When he picked it up David put a stainless prop on his invoice.
He figured it was a good prop for the boat and did not question it, as he trusted David.
James, my nephew also has tried to work with them on getting him the right hub kit. David keeps dropping the ball which there no excuse for this.
If Casey says something else he full of it.
At this point he is really pissed as he felt David was a stand up guy. Now between not getting him the right hub kit. Then finding out Solaris is junk he is really upset with the whole deal.

He is very tight with his money. He went with best price versus a professional dealer which was his mistake.
This might be why David tried to help him with a cheaper prop.
At least he has you as his counselor and agent.
He will get it figured out.

I'm starting to doubt every bit of this other than the engine purchase.

Nov 8th my nephew bought a new Mercury motor and prop from David Wade Marine. Yes, he paid cash for it unlike a lot of people who finance things. He is very tight with his money. He went with best price versus a professional dealer which was his mistake. He been going back and forth with them about getting the right hardware kit for the prop. They seemed to keep dropping the ball on this. Now it is the holidays which he was hoping to run the boat and he cannot due to David Wade Marine dropped the ball a few times since Nov 8th. I told him at this point to chalk it up as a loss. Take the prop back to David Wade Marine to get your money back. Never go back to him again. Go to a more professional dealer to get a prop or a prop shop.

just go post on a mercury board with the motor and the prop.
Or call baggy. Shouldn't be that difficult for a prop or motor guy to answer.

Man, David Wade has been nothing but awesome for me every time I go in for service, buy oil, or just have a question. I find it hard to believe that he would leave someone hanging like that on a prop.
hmmmm
hmmmm

Just grab a prop from elsewhere and return current prop when you can. Shouldn't stop him from being on the water.

The motor didnt come with a prop attached??
they never do, some smaller HP motors will include a "standard" aluminum prop but its rarely correct or usable "as-is" and you use it to "try out" and then exchange it to get the correct pitch you need
the prop must match the boat so the only way you get a prop already setup ready to go is if the complete boat motor trailer setup is bought as a package

Yes, this is right, but how many people do you think leave a dealer without the prop already on the motor?
Even though it's easy to install, why?

Never buy boat parts from a guy whose name also appears on a NWLA juvenile prison.

i did with my 2014 nissan
i had the aluminum prop that comes with it still sealed in the box, and he gave me two other props to test which pitch gave me the right top rpms for the boat.
then i went back and ordered a SS prop with the pitch i now knew i needed and he took the aluminum i never used and exchanged it for another one with the correct pitch
its a lot more common then you think and you cant test the prop until you run 2 tanks of gas to break the motor in before running it wide open to test the props

I second that. We bring him all of our work boats, order parts, call him with questions, hell he has even met us at a launch when we were having issues and rode in the boat with us to diagnose the issue. OP nephew sounds like a difficult costumer to me

David told my nephew he would have the prop on Monday. My nephew said not a problem he would wait as he trusted this guy.
If he was a difficult customer why did David ask for the business through email?
Then he sold him a prop without the correct hub kit bottom line when he knew he wanted to take it out the week of thanksgiving.
How long does it take to get the right kit 1 month or 2 months come on?
Now he stuck with going to get another prop when he paid for one already from an unprofessional dealer who screwed him.
