I use Bowie’s in Natchez because the guys there are some of my best friends but I wouldn’t consider them a top bow shop, they can just do the basics. Sportscenter can’t do shite on bows

Spillway Sportsman when I lived in BR. Bowie was terrible.

When I was at LSU i use to go to Bowie's and every time I walked in there I felt they turned their nose up to me. Last time I went to check out a new hoyt the bow tech in there was completely full of shite. Spillway got my business if I didn't need something quick.

There was never anything quick about Bowie, that's for sure. They kept my bow for 1.5 months in the middle of the summer once restringing it. I'm pretty sure it was lost because I got a different story every time I called. Eventually, I just went to pick it up. It hadn't been touched.

Another time, I was in there looking at a Sitka delta wading jacket. One of the guys came up behind me and told me, "we've got financing available if you're interested." I didn't know what to say to that, so I just left .

I like hoot-n-holler. I expected a bunch of rednecks to be running that place...

Nonetheless they do quality work, understand bows, and are very helpful and accommodating.

Simple things like getting my arrows refletched. They didn’t try to upsale me new arrows. As far as refletching, most stores would just do it. Without me prompting the conversation they asked what colors I wanted. I now have some bad arse purple and gold on my gold tips.

Jay’s Archery in Eunice/ Mamou. I drive over an hour and pass up 2 other shops to go to Jay. I shoot a Hoyt but he carries Hoyt, PSE and a few others. I don’t think he has Mathews.

He can custom make you a string in his shop also.

Only person I will let work on my bow is Jay James with Jay's Archery in Eunice. Been dealing with Jay for over 10 years. Well worth the drive. Takes me about an hour to get to him but worth it. Bought a few bows from him already, and he's been doing all of my strings and servicing for a long time.

They are very big on service and not on sale. You can go in with cash on table and if the they can get you fixed up for nothing they will. It was mind boggling. I like to support places like that but they will hardly take my money up there.

They have been good every time I went.

Yep. That's what happened to me yesterday. I hope it works out for them there.

I'm always careful with second hand info. I know Chag's bowtech Sammy pretty well and he's a stand up guy.

This
Sammy is s great guy.
Only problem with going to Chags is Ray Chagnard himself.
Guy has the personality of a box of rocks.

There's a place in slidell called ken's bayou archery. I haven't been in there in a few years, so i don't know if it's still under the same ownership.

Anyway, the guy that owns or used to own it is generally obnoxious and horribly foul mouthed. The word "frick" is in every other sentence. I don't mind profanity but i don't want to have a business or technical discussion with a guy who's talking to me like i'm his brother in law.

"Mother fricker this. frick that. shite. Goddamn". This is the sorta discussion this guy would have. It was weird and uncomfortable for a place of business.

i always wondered how he stayed in business. place is unreal. its almost as if you insulted them by walking through the doors. and you're right.... i sure as hell don't have the cleanest mouth, but they bring it to a whole other level. daughter was pretty cool and hot too, used to run around with her some back in the honky tonk days.
