Mega Cab transmission is toast at 46,000 miles (new questions pg 7)

Cost for a rebuilt from the dealer with 3 yr. 100K warranty is just under 5k installed.
I had no problems with the tranny prior to this winter. Last summer I did DPF and EGR delete on it and added a programmer. I get 5 more MPG. I drive with a heavy foot on the hwy 85+ but that is empty and not pulling a load. I accelerate smoothly to get to those speeds and have not laid rubber in it or tached it out ever. I do have 35" tires on her but they are on the stock wheels. I do not take it out and mud in it and have done no heavy pulling to speak of.
Tell me how those mods can screw up a transmission if at all?
Should I consider installing an Allison transmission in my Dodge with a 6.7 Cummins?
DT your advice is appreciated.

when i kept looking at dodges, my father n law wouldn't shut up about warning me about dodge's transmissions....
You know where Robinson Brothers Ford is at? Since you're in TX, you may want to call Vernon Ford.

I'm on my phone so I can't type too much but, if I were going to spend 5 k on a transmission, I would look into suncoast before going back to that 68RE.
Are they not warrantying it because of the aftermarket stuff?

Well, it doesn't help when your wife decides to drive it in 4 high at 80 mph on the loop.
engine warranty is 100K
powertrain warranty was 36K when we bought it.
They said the aftermarket stuff would not effect the tranny, but I have heard differently

Your wife did it when she buried it to the frame

A brand new Suncoast is right around $3k and will hold up much better than a stocker. They also use them on F250s built for the 1/4 mile

We had one dodge, it was a caravan, and it went through 2 transmissions in 10 years, along with plenty of other issues.
That was enough for me to never buy a dodge

Yeah, Dodge transmissions are about as reliable as a Jeep.

Sorry to hear about your truck BP. As a woman who is not schooled on trucks, engines, cars, motors, driving etc....I can offer no advice and just can say 'good luck'.

Not that one, the newer ones than that that everyone had problems with. I think my parents had 3 or 4 friends with the same van, and every one of them ended up with at least one new transmission. My dad was pretty happy to see that thing go

My parents had two caravans when I was a kid, neither made it to 100k.
