A Metairie fishing and hunting guide has been arrested on accusations of fraud after he allegedly took payments for charter trips but never showed up, authorities said Friday.

Christopher Pike Jr., 38, has violated state charter guide regulations 10 times since 2017, according to a state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries statement. His 24-foot boat is now under a court-issued seizure order, department officials said.

Pike Jr., with Cast & Blast Charters LLC, was arrested on January 20 after the alleged violations in St. Bernard Parish. He has been charged with three counts of failing to comply with charter boat regulations, four separate counts of failing to comply with hunting guide regulations, of issuing worthless checks and of credit card fraud, and two counts of felony theft. The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Pike Jr. on other charges as well.

The statement said the office received numerous complaints about Pike Jr. taking charter reservations and not following through with the trips.

Saw the guys boat listed on FB market a few weeks ago. Then saw a post from Sweetwater saying something about him taking deposits from people for rooms there that were never booked.

He’s used to paint boats on the side. Did a nice camo stencil job on my duck boat for $500.

He had a nice boat, probably a $100k in that 24ft. Seems like 10 charters at $800 would have been cheaper to refund the no shows.

I find it hard to believe that a guy got to the point of being arrested for this kind of stuff and it wasn’t first reported here before it got to this point.

He hosed some guys on a duck hunt and they posted about it on Facebook in a duck hunting group. More people started chiming in with similar stories and they built a case on him.

He thinks highly of himself.

quote:

His confidence and vast knowledge aids him in his ability to read the water, see small baitfish jumping 500 yards away, follow a redfish swimming 20 yards away, and track a flock of ducks 500 yards away. All this knowledge and experience will make your trip as productive as the conditions allow.

I booked a trip with him several years ago. Zero ducks zero fish.

I’ve fished and hunted Delacroix half my life and I’ve never heard anyone say one positive thing about this guy.

Ok I’ll put my 2 cents in. I personally know Chris. Are we friends. No. I’ve seen him do some nice things for people. I’ve also heard he’s done some shady things with clients. Since I didn’t actually witness them I held judgment. I’m not suprised though of his arrest

Doesn't sound like this story involved the bait boy.

ETA - He would see the bait boy from 800 yards away and skedaddle.
