Isopropyl alcohol - put that on a paper towel and wipe once, throw away. Do that repeatedly on all your areas

Shower with dawn soap - you need to get the oils off of you.

I’m very susceptible to poison ivy and I run my chainsaw multiple times a week. After I cut I take my clothes to the washer and wipe with isopropyl then immediately take a shower with dawn, hair, everything.

That keeps the ivy back and great post exposure as well.

Interesting fact: The rash doesn't come directly from the poison ivy. The rash is produced by an allergic response from your own immune system due to it not recognizing the ivy's oily plant resin urushiol.

I am not sure this is a fact, but every time that I have gotten into a bush or Vine of poison ivy, if I recognized it, and washed off the oil with water, I did not get an outbreak.

I am an avid outdoorsman who is very allergic to poison ivy

After getting to my truck I change my clothes and wash from my elbows down with dawn blue OG. REALLY cut down on my outbreaks.

get some of this sh*t. It dries it out and makes it (or at least it seems like it does) go away quicker.

poison ivy up and down my legs, inside of both arms and small of my back;

at least it's not on your pecker

If I think I've gotten into poison ivy I take a shower with dawn dish soap immediately after I'm out of the woods. Seems to help.

Man, I feel your pain! I used to get it real bad when I was younger. Much more careful now. I did get a little on my arm last year. I experimented and used oragel gel on the spots I had. Worked real good for relieving the itch. Got to use the gel formula and apply it several times a day but it was worth it.

Around 2005, I decided to clean up this one pretty oak in the in laws pasture, it had some jumping cactus and a fair bit of poison ivy, I real careful right up to the bright idea to burn it. I just dropped out of life for the next 4 days. Everywhere smoke got on me I got a raging case of ivy itch. Not to mention I looked like a zombie.

My grandpa used to put turpentine on my chigger bites on my nut sack when I was a little kid.

And I knew better than to scream like a girl which is what I really had to fight not to do.

Talk about fiya on da scrotum!

Fun times!

My granny used to put a cup of bleach in our bath water when we had them bad. Not really sure if it helped or not.

What always works for me in preventing the rash is if I knowingly get into poison ivy, I’ll immediately go take a cold shower and seriously scrub down with Dawn dish soap. If you wait too long it doesn’t work. Also, use dawn to wash any clothes that came in contact with it. Gotta get the urushiol off of everything
