Whatever you decide focus on teaching him safety and the fact he is taking a life. Knowing what is behind his target the deer. .243 would be good. I learned on a 30-30 lever action and that is what my son will learn on.

I read were a lot of people get AR platforms for young kids because of the ease of the safety. IMHO if that is a factor your kid is too young.

Subtle brag...

Sounds pretty interesting in all seriousness.
Oscar Mayer Cotto Salami is a good substitute if you don't have bologna.

Love them. But I can’t eat cheap white bread. It feels like eating wet clay or something.

Ride the streetcars at least once for a couple of hours. With a cocktail in hand if you please.

It is touristy but I think visiters should take a horse drawn carriage tour of the quarter. Maybe with a Hurricane in hand.
cut up a steak into pieces about two bites each. Marinade in a ziploc bag. After a few hours cook over the fire on a stick.

Every bite is seared crispy and medium or more rare in the middle.

pocket knife challenge

I carry a cheap Swiss army knock off from Dollywood. LOL

EVERY nice pocket knife I have had I loose quickly somehow. The cheap ones…. Never disappear.

I would fail this challenge miserably. It works fine for cutting meat or cheese at lunch.

I really like my Benchmade steep country. Fixes blade and the rubber handle is nice for when your hands are wet or bloody.
For kids that are only going to eat a cheese or pepperoni its too easy to pull one from the freezer and bake it.

I made the same shot on a doe once when I was young. Did the same thing with my knife. Hopefully, I will not have to do that again.
Okay here is my serious response.

Unless you have a LOT of money to spend or marry a man or women that their family has property in that area; you are wasting your time. Which everyone knows.

Lists for clubs in ths area don't exist. Memberships get passed down to kids.

You have 500K or more to buy property. You might find 40-60 acres.
Everyone should go to DC and see the memorials and smithsonians IMHO. The Metro is clean and reliable.

You should be able to find something the kids are interested in between the space smithsonian, spy museum, ect.
Grandpa had an Evinrude snowmobile. He pulled a trailer with it and we would haul firewood from up in his woods down to the wood shed.

It was very old and SLOW. But that thing would plow through any show with a trailer load of oak and kids.

I have been using one for several years. It must be before they went really thin, because it is thicker than a chargriller.

Works good. Mine holds temp pretty easily. You do need to check it every 45 minutes or so. Doing large cooks like a pork shoulder will burn some coals.

But if you are sitting in the shade by the pit with a cigar it is no big deal. :pimp:
